Allie's Delicious Macaroni and Cheese

YUCK! All you can taste is the Mozzarella, I like Mozzarella, but in this it had a really strange taste. Blech!

French Toast I

This is a very good recipe, a definite keeper. I fried the bread in butter flavor Pam to cut back on some of the sweetness.

Grandma's Chicken Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2002
Sorry, but I just don't see what's so great about this particular recipe. Can't figure out what everyone's raving about. It's good, but not great. You don't need oil to cook pasta, the oil just floats to the top of the water. Just stirring the pasts every so often while it's cooking is sufficent. And you don't need salt to cook your pasta either. And the AMOUNT of salt called for in this recipe! WOW! Who needs all that salt? There's plenty of salt in the canned chicken broth. Even if your using homemade broth, you still don't need that amount of salt.

Very good! But where's the oatmeal I usually see in the apple crisps topping?

Applesauce

Reviewed: May 1, 2002
This is very tasty applesauce! I agree with the other posts about cutting back on the sugar. As it does depend on the apples your using. I would suggest that when you add the sugar, start with 1/4 c., add a little bit more sugar as you go along, tasting with each addition of more sugar. You can pretty much judge at that point how sweet you want it. I also added cinnamon. I also strained the apples before processing. There's nothing like fresh applesauce, thanks for this recipe!

Caramel Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: May 2, 2002
My husband said, "This is great!" He gave it 2 thumbs up! I used applesauce instead of apples (didn't have any). And put the pecans into the sauce (just before serving) instead of just sprinkling them on top of the chops. Would suggest doubling the sauce though, wasn't enough. Also since we love garlic, so I rubbed the chops with minced garlic and pepper. And let them set in the frig for a few hours prior to cooking. I served this with creamy noodles and fresh green beans. Nice change from boring pork chops.

Absolutely Ultimate Potato Soup

Reviewed: May 3, 2002
This TRULY is the best potato soup you could ever have. Rich, creamy, full of flavor. You won't find better in a can or at a restaurant. The only change I will make next time is I'll use leeks instead of onions. Simply because I think leeks in soup adds the most delicious flavor. You definetly should give this soup a try!

Fried Chicken with Creamy Gravy

Reviewed: May 13, 2002
OMG the gravy is to die for! I did one extra step, after coating the chicken I put the pieces on a rack so the coating could dry a little. And since I didn't have Paprika I substituted Lawry's seasoning. FINALLY I can now make fried chicken. It came out perfect! I have tried for years to make fried chicken, and the coating would always come off, I'd burn it. NOW I can have fried chicken at home and forget take out. Thanks Gina!!

Baked Spinach

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2002
This was very good. I used can spinach, and maybe that's why it was a little greasy tasting. I would cut back on the butter by at least 2 Tablespoons. And next time will add sauteed chopped onion and mushrooms. For my husband I will probably try adding cooked chopped bacon. My 10 month old is just starting to discover "big people" food, and ate this up.

This is the best rice pudding. Took longer to thicken then 20 minutes though. Very, creamy. 5 stars.

Creamed Chicken for Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2002
This was very good. Taste very close to the chicken and biscuit recipe at my favorite restaurant. I did cut way back on the amount of butter though, only used 2 T. and only 1/2 t. of Lawry's seasoned salt, instead of 1 t. salt. Also, I used half milk and half cream. Still VERY good!

Good, but not great. Nothing different or special in the flavor. Just sweet tasting pork chops. I can see where children would like these.

Coq au Creme

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2002
Very good. The sour cream is a bit strong throughout the dish. But all in all it's very good. I think maybe cream of mushroom soup in place of the sour cream might be a nice alternative. My husband who doesn't like sour cream said it was very good. I didn't use a separate pan to melt the butter in as per the instructions, I just moved the chicken to a warm plate, finished that step and put it back in. Then did the same thing to blend in the sour cream. Saved dirtying another pan.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Sep. 20, 2002
This is a very good apple pie. I added extra sugar and cinnamon to it though, plus nutmeg and 1 t. vanilla. I didn't divide the apples as other said they did, I just mixed the sauce with the apples all at once. I layered the apple mixture in the pan and added extra sugar and cinnamon to each layer. We love lots of cinnamon in our apple pie, and a bit sweeter. I have always only made my mom's apple pie. And she didn't use measurements. So this was a nice change.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2002
I wasn't able to follow this recipe, since I didn't have the soup and onion mix. But I wanted to add a tip that makes cooking in a crockpot SO much easier. Line the crockpot with a Reynold's oven cooking bag, Turkey size, or smaller depending on the size of your crockpot. Cooking time is the same. Then the best part, clean up. Just remove the ingredients, lift out the bag, and your done! The crockpot remains clean.

German Apple Pudding Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2002
This is very good. My mom LOVED it! I will make a couple changes next time I make it. For the sauce, I'll cut down on the amount of sugar, maybe 1/4 c. instead of 1/2 c. Because although the sauce is very good, the sweetness of it overpowered the cake, and I couldn't even taste the apples. I also think I'll reduce the cinnamon from 1 1/2 t. to just 1 t. Plus, I would suggest adding a dollip of whip cream to the individual slices or serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. To cut some of the sweetness of the cake. This one goes in my recipe box.

Cream of Fresh Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2002
Very good. I will use half n half next time, since I like my tomato soup creamier. I also sauteed chopped onion to add. I pureed it in the blender instead of straining. Much better then the can.
