Potluck Pan Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 13, 2003
We had a cook out tonight and I used this recipe to make hamburger rolls. Everyone loved them, and said I'm not to buy rolls anymore! Their soft with a very nice flavor. They were easy to make too. I've tried a couple other roll recipes from here that were very bland, but these rolls, I can say have a very nice taste.

Blender Chocolate Mousse

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2003
After reading the reviews, I cut back on the sugar, it was still waaaay to sweet. Plus, it didn't even have the consistency of mousse, it was watery. A waist of ingredients. How can someone publish such a rotton recipe??

Easiest Ever Fruit Cobbler

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2003
This is very, very good! It's not too sweet. And the batter comes out moist. In fact, when I first took it out, I wasn't sure is was done. Because all I've ever had was my mom's cobbler, and I NEVER liked it. Her's was dry, very dry, like she made a cake and added fruit, blech (sorry mom). I think this might be good served with cream, or vanilla ice cream. If this is what fruit cobbler is supposed to taste like, I'll be making it often. Yum!

French Bread Rolls to Die For

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2003
These are good. Next time though I will add more sugar, 4 T. instead of 2. I made the cloverleaf rolls, and it made 12 large rolls in my muffin pan. They rose up very nice, they are light and chewy inside, and crusty outside. It took 11 minutes in my oven.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2003
These are excellent! I followed GOURMETMOMMY'S advice, and they came out perfect. This is the first sweet treat where I actually liked the crust, it's light and soft. I agree with GOURMETMOMMY, I don't like any sweet treat "sickeningly sweet" either, and these have the perfect balance of sweet and tart. With GOURMETMOMMY'S modifications.

Sweetened Popcorn

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2003
It's good. The only thing I did different was pop 4 quarts instead of 6, simply because it covers more of the popcorn. Next time I will add nuts.

Ham and Beans

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2003
This is the WORST ham and bean soup, myself and my family have tried. It was very bland tasting, and the brown sugar gave it a very odd taste. Maybe if a ham bone had simmered with the beans it may of helped.Ehat a waste of ingredients. I wouldn't recommend anyone trying this!

Easy Biscuit Mixture

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2003
Very good. Their light and flakey. And they baked better in my oven then the boxed mix does. We go through a LOT of biscuits in my house, so it is good to have this recipe, when your pinching pennies especially. Thanks for sharing it Janet.

Mou Shu Pork Wraps

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2003
I love chinese, and had some left over ing's that this recipe called for, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've never had mou shu pork before, so I can't really say if this particular recipe makes a good mou shu pork. Personally, none of us liked it. I don't know if it was the soy that's already in the Hoison sauce, and then more soy added to the recipe that did it, but it left a bitter aftertaste. Perhaps if the 2 T. of soy called for was left out, it might be passable. I used low salt soy too.

Chicken and Cheese Stuffed Jumbo Shells

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2003
It's good...if I was to make this again, I would cut back on the amount of bread crumbs and cheese, because it was kinda dry. I did use spaghetti sauce instead of just tomato sauce. My 18 month old ate 2 1/2 shells. So that was good, at least he got some protein.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2003
This is a very good bread. This was my first real attempt at making bread, and it went smoothly from start to finish. But the taste was lacking something, my HB agreed. I don't know if I'm thinking of that yeast taste I'm used to from homemade bread?...But anyway, it's a keeper. Thanks for posting it.

Banana Cream Pie V

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2003
I made this last night, it tastes great. But the center was runny, it didn't set up at all. Any ideas from anyone as to why this would happen? Do I need to add more cornstarch then the 1/4 cup called for?

Nacho Pie

Very good. I also added chopped tomato, and a dollup of sour cream. I made my own nacho cheese soup though. Too expensive and too salty to buy the canned.

YUCK! Unless you like drinking "egg flavored milk", skip this one. 'Cause that's what it tasted like, not like egg nog at all. BLECH!

Twice Baked Potatoes I

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2002
Just wanted to comment on the statement's about the potatoes taking longer to bake. My mother gave me this tip. Get a "clean" carpenters nail, insert nail into unbaked potato, leave in and proceed to bake. It takes about half as long to bake with the nail in the potato then without it. :-)

Santa's Favorite Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2002
This is a very good cake, would be really nice to take to a Christmas party. I have to agree with the previous post, 1 teaspoon of peppermint oil is more then enough! I used the 2 called for, and it's so strong it's bitter. I made this for my mom's birthday, she loves peppermint, but even she agreed that it's to strong. I honestly don't know how you could eat it being that strong. It overpowers the whole cake. I'm hoping that in a day or so, it will mellow out.

Caramels

This took f-o-r-e-v-e-r to get to the 250 stage. And cutting them was hard too, then wrapping all those pieces individually. You definetly should have some help with at least the wrapping. They have a very nice flavor.

Cream Cheese Mints

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2002
These are the best peppermint patties you'll ever have. Their smooth, not grainy, like the boughten ones I've had. It doesn't matter what fancy store you buy yours from, these will beat any other, hands down. Their easy to make, fast and fun. I dipped them in melted chocolate and froze. Delish!
