I grew up on a recipe very similar to this. We didn't cut the zucchini in half we cut the top off at the thin end and used a melon scooper to pull out the middle and stuffed it with a mixture of plain tomato sausce with rice , hamburger and kinda a lot of garlic salt. be sure the mixture is loose because the rice swells and uses up most of the moisture.Then we cover it with tomato sauce and we either simmer it on the stove top, covered, For a long time till the zuccchini is tender or bake it in the oven.Either way it is delish. It is called Koosa in our family
