This is fantastic. We had it for the first time last night, and mdh and daughter raved over it. I thought so much parmesan cheese would be a bit much, but it gives it a nice kick. I've used the same recipe, minus ham and parmesan, since the 70s, and that makes an unbeatable side dish. We usually bring it out for holiday cooking; no one tires of it. So happy to see this version with the ham and parmy added. Thanks for the recipe! Going into my permanent files. :0) *FWIW, it seemed a bit short on ham; my particular (generous) serving was almost completely lacking in ham. For the future I am upping the amount to 1 1/2 to 2 cups ham.
