Smothered Beef Short Ribs

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2014
I'm giving it a 4 because if I broke it down, I'd give the ribs themselves a 3- they didn't come out as fall-off-the-bone tender as I'd have liked. But the sauce, oh the sauce, OH MY, the sauce----- freakin' AMAZING!!!!!!!!!! Definitely a 5+ star sauce!

Slow Cooker Apple Butter

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2013
Amazing! Followed except... decreased the sugar- did about a cup and a half of brown and a cup and a half of white. Also at the end before I canned it I put the entire crock pot of apple butter into the blender and got the ***PERFECT*** consistency- I was planning on returning it to the crock pot but no need to it poured easily into my jars. :) Oh, I also kept the top open during the last few hours to thicken up and I will follow this every time! Thanks!

Fruit Pizza I

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2013
Gave it four stars because I liked the idea and the crust and the look- and the fruit- but I wasn't crazy crazy about the cream cheese topping- I did use confectioners sugar and added a little cool whip but I think next time I may go completely with cool whip? That being said- I have 4 girls- my one loved the frosting but the other 3 weren't crazy about it- The cookie crust turned out perfect. And it looked amazing too :)

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2011
Excellent! I boiled them first with salted water. Laid out on a cookie sheet and dried for about 24 hours. Tossed with butter as directed and roasted 3 batches- one with salt and a touch of olive oil and then added a dash of sugar after- one with salt and buttery popcorn oil and the last with garlic powder and salt.... My favorite was definitely the garlic powder and salt batch! Yummy!

Pear Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2011
Not my favorite- it wasn't bad but it was more cakey than bready. I was looking for more of the zucchini bread feel but this was more of a cake taste. I know I used another recipe before that we all love so I'll keep trying to find it on here. Not going to use this one again though.

Soft Christmas Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 28, 2011
We LOVE these cookies! They turned out great! We also made the recommended adjustments. :) Thanks for the great recipe! :) ".use butter instead of marg, and melt it over the stove. It helps to dissolve the sugar, and to help sugars and butters cream better. Use only 3 cups flour. Finally, oven temp at 350 and baking cookies for 8-10 minutes keeps it soft. Lining with parchment paper also helps. Keep an eye out...they will seem too pale to remove from the oven, but just when the center doesn't look "wet" anymore, it is done. They still bake for 2 or so minutes, so they will darken up a little and be perfect.

Cranberry Hootycreeks

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Just made 6 of these for teacher gifts! :) I haven't made the cookies so I don't know how they taste but I'm rating them based on "giftableness" (I know it's not a word :) ) I skipped the nuts simply because they weren't on sale and it would have been an extra $12 or so. But the jars turned out GREAT! Not hard to do- I used the rolled up paper idea to pour in most ingredients. Cut out wrapping paper for the top. Attached a print out of the recipe and an ornament and tied it up with a ribbon. A great idea for a thoughtful gift! Will probably do it again next year. Thanks!!!

Summer Style Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2006
I used this recipe as a base for my dish and it turned out great- I used 2 yellow squash instead of 1 yellow, 1 zucchini because I didn't have a zucchini. My chicken breasts were in pieces but it worked fine. I added some olive oil, oregano, garlic powder on the chicken, and italian seasonings. I used the can of tomatoes like it called for but on top I sliced up fresh tomatoes and covered with oregano. I might change it up to add fresh tomatoes throughout because that made it really yummy. I changed the cheese to monterey jack which worked fine. I added some fresh garlic too. Next time I'll add mushrooms & an onion. It was really yummy.
