Green Beans and Hot Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
Just what my husband loves with green beans, tomatoes, onions, green pepper and hot peppers. Not too much going on. The first time I made it I did not have hot banana peppers. I used Tabasco Sauce and figured he could always adjust the heat. Worked out fine. It is delicious. Thank you for the recipe. Bernie

Garlic Dill New Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
This was delish. I also liked the idea of 1/2 cooking them tender crisp then finishing them in the oven so they don't get mushy. Great thinking.A add a bit more dill because I love it so much. Thanks for a fab recipe

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
Very delish and definely rich potato casserole. I used to make it in a 9 X 13 pan but do like the results of a deep 3 qt. Corning casserole. I also use fried onion rings to top instead of cornfolakes. I know you can add extra meat, green pepper or anything else but it really is great for a basic potato dish. Thanks for the recipe.

Very good; especially when you are looking for a different way to eat "squash". I didn't even use tomato sauce. The seasonings can be altered accorning to individual taste also. Quite a good recipe. Thanks Bernie

Ranger Cookies III

Very good cookies. I omitted the raisins since I do not like them. All I can suggest is to bake on a greased cookie sheet; I also like to let cookies rest after baking for 3-4 minutes before removing from cookie sheet. Thanks for the recipe Bernie

German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
This was the best German Red Cabbage I have tasted in ages. I followed the recipe; I only cut down on the sugar. I used 3/8c sugar; and because I did not have any apples I omitted them. I did not miss them. Because cabbages come in so many sizes; I decided to weigh the head before starting; it was 2 1/4#. If anyone knows what I could use to substitute tart apples in a recipe I would be very happy if you would inform me. Thanks for a delish recipe Bernie bernietheus@yahoo.com

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
Delious and not too complicated to do without canned soup. I used canned mushrooms and they worked the same. I would make a thinner white sauce to accompany tuna, etc. A REAL comfort food. Thanks Bernie

Very good. It is great not drenched in a heavy sauce. The flavor of the cauuliflower comes through; even cauliflower haters will love this.

Wild Rice Casserole

I also cut down on the ammount of chicken broth(used about 2 1/2 cups). I added some fennel seed, since it was not in my sausage, red pepper flakes as suggested and since I did not have mushrooms; I added a can of sliced water chestnuts. It as a real suprise when you found the cruchy pieces. My husband said this is a keeper. Thanks for the recipe

Banana Banana Bread

FABULOUS TASING BANANA BREAD!! It was not too moist in center as I always found in my previous recipes. I was glad to find applesauce could be a good substitute when I am short on bananas. I also love nuts in my banana bread. Next time I think I will add cinnamon & nutmeg. Thanks for a wonderful and delicious recipe.

Slovak Stuffed Cabbage

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2007
It is so good to see a good stuffed cabbage recipe. I add a few changes from what I recall from my youth. The rolls should be softer; so I will add more rice and as some suggested 1 teaspoon of fennel seed. My preference is to have well cooked cabbage; it could have been I did not add enough liquid. My mistake; I would use more tomato soup and tomato puree. Thanks for a fabulous start to wonderful recipe. You can't beat the smell from the kitchen when cooking or reheating them Bernie
