Blueberry Shortbread Bars

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2013
I have made these several times. My favorite happens to be the blueberry shortbread bars. I doubled the recipe & baked it in my Pyrex 11 X 7 X 2 inch glass baking dish. It works wonderful. I like blueberries, I used more blueberries also. Cinnamon was my choice, too. Great recipe!!

American-Italian Pasta Salad

Reviewed: May 27, 2013
I made this pasta salad for a family BBQ. It was the first time I ever made a pasta salad ever & I am an experienced cook. It was fabulous. Everybody enjoyed it. I used both regular salami & pepperoni cubed in the salad. Thanks. Bernie

Lemon Meringue Pie III

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
Absolutely delicious. The only change I did was keeping the meringue out of the lemon filling. I used it all on top of the pie. I prefer to have a lot of meringue & did not miss any in the filling, otherwise, everything was the same. Thanks for a great recipe.

Mom's Pie Crust

Reviewed: May 16, 2013
I have never rated anything 5 but this was fabulous. I have never tasted a flakier crust that was so easy to make. I was pleased to see I had butter at hand to use instead of Crisco or lard. I had not made a pie in at least 30 years & a new recipe, too. The crust was superb. I used it with the Lemon Meringue Pie on this site, luscious also. It could be beginner's luck but It still gets a 5 star.

Green Beans and Hot Sauce

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
Just what my husband loves with green beans, tomatoes, onions, green pepper and hot peppers. Not too much going on. The first time I made it I did not have hot banana peppers. I used Tabasco Sauce and figured he could always adjust the heat. Worked out fine. It is delicious. Thank you for the recipe. Bernie

Garlic Dill New Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2009
This was delish. I also liked the idea of 1/2 cooking them tender crisp then finishing them in the oven so they don't get mushy. Great thinking.A add a bit more dill because I love it so much. Thanks for a fab recipe

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
Very delish and definely rich potato casserole. I used to make it in a 9 X 13 pan but do like the results of a deep 3 qt. Corning casserole. I also use fried onion rings to top instead of cornfolakes. I know you can add extra meat, green pepper or anything else but it really is great for a basic potato dish. Thanks for the recipe.

Ranger Cookies III

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2008
Very good cookies. I omitted the raisins since I do not like them. All I can suggest is to bake on a greased cookie sheet; I also like to let cookies rest after baking for 3-4 minutes before removing from cookie sheet. Thanks for the recipe Bernie

German Red Cabbage

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
This was the best German Red Cabbage I have tasted in ages. I followed the recipe; I only cut down on the sugar. I used 3/8c sugar; and because I did not have any apples I omitted them. I did not miss them. Because cabbages come in so many sizes; I decided to weigh the head before starting; it was 2 1/4#. If anyone knows what I could use to substitute tart apples in a recipe I would be very happy if you would inform me. Thanks for a delish recipe Bernie bernietheus@yahoo.com

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2008
Delious and not too complicated to do without canned soup. I used canned mushrooms and they worked the same. I would make a thinner white sauce to accompany tuna, etc. A REAL comfort food. Thanks Bernie

I give it 5 starts for it versatility. You can't go wrong changing anything. I find it useful; to let it sit avernight. Put 1/2 dressing on before you refrigerate and add 1/2 before serving. Thanks for a great recipe.
