About this Cook
My family comes from a small town in southern Missouri - very southern cooking traditions. My mom was the kind of cook that could make a tasty meal out of whatever was in her pantry, and my dad likes gourmet cooking. I have been cooking since I was old enough to help stir the pot! My husband and I enjoy all kinds of cuisines, and love to experiment - especially if it means lighting up the BBQ grill!
My favorite things to cook
Beef brisket - slow roast in the oven, or smoked on the grill! BBQ beef/pork in the slow cooker. Breakfast! (Wild Blueberry Pancakes are my specialty) Pasta pasta pasta! I also do a mean macaroni & cheese from scratch!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family likes a big fry up breakfast/brunch on Sunday. My husband's family likes a nice roast beef or chicken for Friday Night supper. Either way, I love to see a table full of people enjoying a meal at my house!
My cooking triumphs
I catered my sister's couples wedding shower at a local park (across the street from our house). We did everything from the bbq burgers, chicken breasts & brats, down to the desert cupcakes, fresh fruit & a 5 lb. Hershey's chocolate bar (I think the dads ate more of that than the kids!). Everyone (about 80 guests) had a fantastic time - and really enjoyed the food. My best party ever!
My cooking tragedies
I have yet to be able to re-create my great grandmother's bread pudding. she never used a recipe, and no one thought to try and write it down before she passed away. I am going to keep on trying though - good thing my husband doesn't mind eating my mistakes!

Irresistible Irish Soda Bread
i was so happy to find a recipe that did not add raisins! most soda bread recipes are much more sweet than traditional irish soda bread - i have reduced the sugar in this recipe but its just as good with the 1/3 cup. this goes together quickly, and you can substitute 2 tbsp. lemon juice and enough milk to make 2 cups for the buttermilk if you don't have it on hand.

Pork Barbeque
Everyone loves this - they ask for the recipe every time I make it. Works just as well with either pork, chicken or beef.
