My passion is cooking and creating food! If cooking were a sport, I'd be an Olympic Athlete! I have named Williams-Sonoma; "The Mother Ship!" I love to browse all kitchen stores! You can never have too many kitchen appliances and kitchen gadgets for serious cooks! My Dream Job would be as a Cook - with me in charge of what everyone is going to eat.
The food I make doesn't need to be anything fancy! It needs to taste great and I try to cook moderately healthy and sneak veggies into whatever I can! I cook in "VATS" as I have a constant stream of "Man-Boys" at my house eating! I am lucky enough to have married my Prince (19 years) and have three sons who keep me on my toes!
The end of 2011 has brought me the honor of being chosen as an Allrecipes Allstar! Bring on 2012 - I'm excited!
My favorite things to cook
I don't really have a favorite thing to cook. I have a large family. I like to entertain. I like to change things up. My fellow peeps on allrecipes would call me a "Tweak-er!" I am not great with exactly following recipes. I always end up adding this or that and "tweaking" recipes. Through this site and the things I have learned on it, my Baking has improved dramatically! I never knew that the size of the eggs changes the outcome of your baked goods. Who knew?
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have Christmas Eve at our house every year. Sit down dinner for 20! I start saving recipes and planning my menu further away from Christmas than I would like to admit.
My cooking triumphs
I have led my "non-cooking" friends into their scary zone....the kitchen. My specialty is going to some one's home who claims they have no food, and make something grand out of the contents of their pantry and refrigerator! I like to get people to cook, who would not normally cook. Cooking is a lost art and so many of my friends are now preparing various dishes and recipes that I have introduced them to. That is my best triumph!
My cooking tragedies
Tired, after cooking all day or being distracted - I used to CHAR bread as the final step of my meal prep. I have now learned that I cannot leave the broiler for Garlic Cheese Bread. I am thrilled to say that my tragedies in the kitchen are very rare these days.
