I am an American, born and raised in Colorado. I was a cowgirl thru most of my childhood and early adult hood, barrel racing and riding in rodeos on drill teams. I am an Army Combat veteran with three combat tours. I am currently in Kuwait with my Kuwaiti husband, teaching English, Science, Math, Art and COOKING to 4 and 5 year olds. I love my job.
My favorite things to cook
I am a vegetarian with a few slips but I try to be most of the time. I love trying new ethnic dishes and new ways to try veggies. I like to experiment and try to make traditional menus vegetarian, more healthy or cheaper. Because of the heat, we don't have and I don't want an oven in my house.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving dinner, Mexican food for football games (Superbowl is a FIESTA), comfort foods on cold days.
My cooking triumphs
I just learned how to make really good vegetarian tortillas. My specialties are Asian (Japanese, Thai, Chinese) vegetable dishes, skillet breads and fancy gourmet desserts.
My cooking tragedies
Meats, mostly. I can't get it to where everyone in the family likes it. I have also made a few fish trainwrecks too. I am mastering simple eggs (like scrambled or over easy) but they are really tricky for me as well.
