About this Cook
I'm a fulltime college student with 3 children ages 2, 4, and 5. My husband loves homemade foods and I love cooking for my family. I try finding recipes for the everyday things we love to avoid processed foods.
My favorite things to cook
I love making desserts. I'm actually a pretty picky eater, but my husband is a food adventurer so I try to find a happy middle ground.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My great grandmother came over from Czechoslavakia when she was 3 and carried many of their family recipes with her. I love making kolaches b/c it makes me feel closer to my heritage.
My cooking triumphs
Hubby says I make the best pasta. I love making homemade noodles from scratch.
My cooking tragedies
I caught the first Christmas dinner I made for my husband and I on fire in the oven :( It was a turkey and it wasn't pretty, haha.

Judy's Strawberry Pretzel Salad
I loved this. Only changes were I used fresh strawberries mixedd with 1/3cup sugar set for 1hr and made my own whip cream from scratch. Recipe came out perfect. Definitely making again.

Blackened Tuna Steaks with Mango Salsa
Huge hit. Omitted the jalepeno pepper as I can't stand hot things. My 4yr old kept asking for more.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars
Awesome lemon bars. I follow the Better Homes and Gardens recipe usually, but hate their crust. This crust rocks. Only change I made to crust was, do NOT use softened butter. You'll want to cut the butter into the flour/confectioner sugar mixture with a pasty blender (you know for making pies). Then press the crust into the pan with your fingers. For the filling I added an egg, 1/2 cup of milk, and increased the lemon juice to 1/2 cup. The lemon bars are the best I've ever made.
