Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2013
Used this to glaze the "Too Much Chocolate Cake" recipe from this site. I didn't have any heavy cream, so I used whole milk and only used 1/2 cup instead of 1 cup. Also, I used 6 oz of bitter sweet chocolate chips, and 3 oz of semi sweet chocolate chips instead of the chopped bitter chocolate. I heated the milk in the microwave for 1 minute, added the chocolate, and stirred in. I kept microwaving for 15 second intervals until smooth. Let cool for a bit, then poured over the cake. It was the perfect amount for my bundt cake.

Crusty Potato Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2012
Super easy and baked up very pretty. This would be dynamite as rolls! The dough looked dry in the beginning of the mix cycle so I added more water-I shouldn't have because by the time the machine "beeped" to let me know to check the dough ball it was too wet! So next time I will not add the extra water. I might even sub milk for the water and see how that tastes. Very good bread for being so simple-thanks!

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2012
Ok, so as written. the recipe gets a 3 from me: here's why. 1 cup of butter, melted was WAY too much! My mixture was like a soup when it should have been more like a semi solid that I could press into a pan. The only way to offset this was to add more graham cracker crumbs which made the mixture too grainy. Next time I will only use 3/4 cup butter melted and see how that turns out.

Slow Cooker Barbeque

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2012
This tasted good but I would never use a chuck roast again. I had to throw about half of it out when I was shredding it in the end to get rid of all the fat. I will definitely use this recipe again, but with a leaner cut of meat. 2/5 stars with a chuck roast as written, I think it would be 4-5/5 with a leaner cut of meat.

Whoopie Pies

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
My cakes were flat-not as flat as the other whoopie pie recipe I tried-but still NOTHING like the photos or what I think of as a whoopie pie. However, they taste was LIGHTYEARS better than the other recipe. I did not use this filling-I wanted a marshmallow filling so I mixed marshmallow fluff with cool whip and some cream cheese.

Overnight Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2011
I didn't like it-tasted way too much like a bread pudding. Both my parents really liked it. So I averaged our two ratings and got a 3. I followed the exact recipe except I did soften and whip the cream cheese and then "butter" the bread with it before cubing it to evenly distribute the cream cheese.

Whoopie Pies I

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2011
Not sure what went wrong-I triple checked all the ingredients. My cakes spread out super thin (like 1/4 inch thick if that) and all the cookies melted together into one big blob. And it took 30 minutes to cook all the way through.

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2011
I made this using the following additions: chicken broth instead of water added frozen peas and carrots added fresh chopped celery in the beginning I shredded the chicken before adding the biscuit dough on top. Dough sat in the crock pot (floating on the top) for an hour on high. I thought it was very good! I will be adding to the rotation.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Followed recipe exactly except threw whole small red potatoes, celery, and carrots in. Added beef broth along the way as needed (the vegis soaked up some of the liquid). Great simple and easy recipe!

Creamy Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2011
Tasted pretty good, but something was missing..not sure what. I have to say this recipe gets 5 stars for ease of preparation. My search for the perfect Mac N Cheese recipe continues. Also, the instructions never told me what temperature to melt the cheese mixture on. It made it seem like the burner should be off....? So I just did it on med/low.

Berdean's Cube Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2011
Great flavor. Mine turned out too salty, so I will change how much salt I put in next time. I always think its funny when recipes say add salt "to taste" when you can't taste it. Haha. Also, I rreally think after 1 hr mine was done. At 1.75 hrs it came out a little dry.

Urban Legend Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 27, 2011
I followed the recipes exactly, except didn't add nuts. I also added a bit more baking powder to assure they rose well. OMG this might FINALLY be "The One". I love the extra texture the oatmeal powder adds. My cookies turned out JUST like the photo-very fat and plump-without being cakey or flourey tasting. Yummmmmm

Chocolate Truffle Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2011
Well, I'm going to ruin this cookie's almost flawless reputation. I didn't really like them, and I am 100% a chocolate over. I didn't really like the taste, nor the consistency-too mushy inside and too bitter-and I looove dark chocolate. I don't know-these cookies and I are not in love. Won't make again. And I wanted to loooove them. =(

Cheesy Taco Dip

Just to "bulk" this up a bit, I added 1 can of chili. OMG it was so good. Everybody loved it! I had left overs and days later I reheated it and it was still great! Yummers!

I really liked this! I added 1/2 tub of cool whip as well and did use the strawberry cream cheese as suggested. Yum! Tasted best with apples.

Superbowl Sausage Snacks

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2011
Super easy to make and the guys liked them. Next time I will use different bread. I used the suggested "party" loaf bread and it was pretty terrible-really dry and way too thin. Adding higher quality bread would really make it so much yummier. I also melted 1/4 loaf of Velveeta into the sausage and cheese mixture. Yum!

Slow Cooker Beef Stew I

Reviewed: Dec. 11, 2010
4 stars because I had to almost triple the amount of broth to get the amount of gravy I wanted. Added about 2 tbs of corn starch at the end to make a nice rich thick gravy. I also used seasoned salt instead or regular salt. Also, used 1 extra potato. Next time, I will add more celery than what it called for-I wish there was more. My DH said it was "really really good". Enough said. =)

Four Cheese Macaroni

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
Okay, I followed the ingredients exactly except did not use the eggs and only used 4 TBS of butter.. I warmed the half and half in a saucepan and added all the cheese and butter. I warmed on Medium heat until smooth. I then added to the cooked pasta and tasted it! OMG it was great. But the directions said to put in the oven so I did. FAIL! Thats when the fats from the cheese separated and the pasta dried out. (I cover the pan with foil even). SO long story short, cook pasta and add the cheese/creamy mixture and eat. THEN it would be 5 stars!

Honey Ribs

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2010
Very yummy and tender ribs. Sauce was way too thin. I will somehow alter next time-but the flavor was great. I used spare ribs, so after 1.5 hrs on high they were almost done (I think this is why they cooked so much fast.) I turned the crock pot down to low for two hours then just warm for the rest of the time-hubby was still at work! Will make again but maybe use less broth so its thicker-and maybe some sort of thickening agent.....?
