These only get four stars because I tweaked them so much to my personal taste that they hardly resemble the original recipe. However, this is a great base to work off of and without it, I'd still be buying the store-bought stuff. I go with 3 cups rolled outs, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1/2 cup whole wheat flour, 1 cup sliced almonds, 3/4 teaspoon cinnamon, 1 cup dried fruit (I like the Trader Joe's mix of raisins, blueberries and golden raisins), 1/2 tsp salt, NO honey, 1 beaten egg, 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract and two large mashed bananas. The bananas add a little sweetness and cut out the oil. The result is a chewy granola bar with less fat and more healthy stuff. Thanks Pregocook for giving us a fantastic base!
