About this Cook
love to live life as I like! I love food that tastes good but I get out when I can and exercise to help live a healthier life. The best of both worlds? Love my famiy and working on my schooling, love to play pool and drink beer but unfortunately neither of those pay that well, so I'm in school for something I would enjoy that does( more pool and more beer?) Enjoy knitting, all types of music, watching movies. baking, cooking, traveling, singing in the car and shower, and summer time. Basically, I enjoy being a domestic goddess and also having enough space to be myself and enjoy the things that I like to do.
My favorite things to cook
Since I just learned to finally make fried chicken, I have been craving it all the time, Its my favorite chicken recipe! I get tired of the same ol' things so I come to this site for some inspiration and have almost always been very satisfied with the recipes on here. I like to make one dish meals, casseroles, comfort food. One of these days I will post my recipe for some of the most amazing pot roast you'll ever have!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Comfort food, anything that tastes good. Were not the most health concious people around here but we make our own meals way more often than we do take out or fast food.
My cooking triumphs
Fried chicken. I used to make awful fried chicken. Now I make great fried chicken. Seemed to be one of those things that everyone else had mastered except for me but now I too hold the knowledge to make legendary fried chicken. It's a good feeling.
My cooking tragedies
Chili. I have made it twice from scratch, both times failing miserably. One of those times, I actually put hot dogs in there to try and make it taste better and it was so bad we just ate the hot dogs. I use a chili mac recipe from here that is delicious but that has some premade stuff in there to help. Homemade chili and I are a terrible match and I think if I ever master that one, God will probably tell me I have done what I have served my purpose here on Earth and take me back. It is that bad.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread
Possibly the best banana bread I've ever made! Used macadamia nuts instead of walnuts. Added a third banana for more banana flavor and reduced sour cream to 1/3 cup. Ended up baking an extra 10 min. This is now my go to recipe for banana bread. Thanks!

Quick and Easy Mexican Chicken
Grub! I added a little garlic powder, an extra clove or two of real garlic, and a little seasoning salt. A few slices of jalapeno too since we like some extra kick around here. Delish! Thanks!

Best Carolina BBQ Meat Sauce
Yum! I'll admit...born and raised in Washington and never had a mustard based BBQ sauce until I went to a chain BBQ place that just opened up that had a version of this in their BBQ sauce choices. I was hooked then and decided to find a recipe for one that I can make my own of what one dish cost there. This sauce was a hit for the whole family and I keep a bottle in the refridgerator now for reserve. Thanks, Tripper, for sharing this recipe!
