Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
The best pumpkin seeds I've ever tasted. Buttery and delicious. The only thing I added was a bit of cayenne pepper.

Cut-Out Cookies in a Flower Pot

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
These are awesome and I'm not a big lover of butter/sugar cookies. It was my first time making cut-out cookies so if it's your first time make sure that you roll out your dough think enough otherwise the cookies will be so tough. I'd say go between a 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch. Make sure you don't overcook them. Bake them 10 minutes at most. They will not crumble even if they look a little light. These cookies stand up to the toughest little cook's hands and taste great with almond extract instead of butter extract. The recipe is a bit confusing as it calls for butter then talks about margarine. I used all butter and iced them with royal icing. These will definitely be my go to cut- out cookie.

Streusel Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
This was good but not as moist as I would have liked it. Also not enough "crumb" for my liking. I'm a sweet freak though.

Penne a la Vodka II

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2008
Really delicious. My kids loved it too. In my experience it's easier to break up the tomatoes after they've cooked for a while. I also would add another can of them and a bit more garlic. Just my taste though. I will be making this again.

Good home fries. Used red pepper instead of green and dried parsley. Will make these again.

Sorry but this was very bland for my taste, even after adding some poultry seasoning.

Easy Mexican Casserole

Reviewed: May 22, 2008
This is awesome. The changes I made were to use doritos for the chips because I didn't have plain tortillas, although I think the dish could've done without them, I added half a packet of taco seasoning, and omitted the olives. This is a definite keeper.

California Grilled Veggie Sandwich

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2008
These sandwiches are awesome. I made a few changes because I don't have a grill. I firstly i burshed the veggies with crushed garlic and olive oil and roasted the veggies in the oven at 400 for about 20-25 minutes. I then used my George Foreman Grill to make it like a panini. It was to die for. I forgot the mayo but it was fine without it.

Creamy Shrimp and Corn Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
I'm giving this 4 stars only because my husband wasn't the biggest fan of it. I on the other hand thought it was awesome. I used one can of cream of chicken and one can of cream of shrimp and I added the little shell pasta to it. Other than that I followed the recipe exactly. I will be making this again for myself soon.

Everyone loved this dip. I used the fattening stuff, used red pepper instead of green, omitted the olives and added avocado. Yum

Mahogany Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2008
Beautiful color and flavor. I marinated mine overnight. Like others, I boiled down the sauce and basted the chicken with it and I kept turning them. I only used 1/4 of soy and used garlic powder because I was too lazy to chop fresh. My wings only took about 45 minutes. These will be made again and again. Thanks

Spicy Shrimp and Grits

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
This is awesome. I have never had grits before and I'm so glad this is the recipe I decided to try. The only change I made was to use water to cook the grits instead of chicken broth, just because I didn't have any broth. I also added a touch of cayenne to the grits for a little more spice. This has made the dinner rotation.

Seven Layer Tortilla Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2008
So much better than you'd expect from such simple ingredients. The only changes I made was using coriander and garlic powder in place of the cilantro and garlic. Next time, when I have these ingredients, I will use them. I will definitely be making this again soon.

Roasted Vegetable Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
This is awesome. If you are sick of the same old, same old lasagna this is for you. When I first read the recipe it seemed time consuming but it's not bad at all. I omitted the zucchini because I don't like it and I added a couple more cloves of garlic to the oil. Other than that I followed it to the letter. Absolutely delicious.

Easy Curry Couscous

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
I was looking for something super quick and easy to make and this was it. It tasted wonderful. The only changes I made were to use walnuts instead of almonds, water instead of chicken stock and I added some craisins along with the raisins. NExt time when I plan on making this, I'll make it the way it was written. GReat spur of the moment recipe that will be a regular in our house.

Delicious and super easy to make. I used the eggs we made for Easter and it worked out perfectly. I accidentally forgot the onion and it was still great.

Glazed Ham

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
This was my first time cooking a ham so I had no clue what I was doing. For those of you in the same situation my advice would be not to cook a pre-cooked, spiral cut ham for 8 hours. Most of my ham was so dried up it was like pork jerky. The only thing that saved some of the pieces was that I left some submerged in the juices left in the pan. Those pieces were unbelievably delicious. I will definitely make this ham again but not cook it as long. Lesson learned :)

Roquefort Pear Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
Yum! This salad is awesome and the presentation was beautiful. The only thing I did differently was to add feta instead of the Roquefort because I don't like blue cheese.

Three Cheese Garlic Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
I was a little scared to make this after reading that some people had a very greasy outcome. I'm so glad I did make it though. It was awesome. The only changes I made were to boil the potatoes whole for about 30 minutes. I also used 1 1/2 cups of light cream instead of heavy because that is all I had on hand. I also forgot the garlic so at the last minute I sprinkled garlic powder over the top layer of potatoes. It was delicious and got rave reviews from my Easter crowd.
