German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2013
Made it as directed and did pour over a caramel topping. Hubby loved it and said it would be great with coffee. I tried a piece and thought it could use more spice. I'll add come apple pie spice next time.

Pumpkin Cake II

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2013
Cake was delicious! I added a bit of unsweetened applesauce and pumpkin pie spice for extra flavor. Baked in bundt for about 60 minutes (55 minutes wasn't enough for my oven). I also made a cream cheese frosting (1/4 C butter, 1 8oz pkg cream cheese, 1lb sifted powdered sugar, 2 tsp vanilla, and milk to thin) and drizzled over the top, then sprinkled with pumpkin pie spice. Delish! Everyone loved it and kept going back for more.

Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2010
Absolutely delish! Followed recipe to a T with the exception of using a pork butt roast instead of the pork tenderloin that was called for.

JIF® Buckeyes

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Kids loved these! Made as noted and did use the full 3 cups of powdered sugar. Threw in freezer before dipping in chocolate. Set up rather quickly. These must stay cold.

Florentine Artichoke Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2010
Made it exactly as noted for New Years Eve. After everyone tasted it, we all agreed it needed more garlic. So when I reheated it, I added some garlic salt and stirred it up. Tasted soooo much better.

Paul's Pumpkin Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
Excellent pumpkin bars. I followed the tips from CIRCEKITTY and filled the pan perfectly. Did the frosting just as she also suggested, although it made a little more than needed. I also added raisins to the bars (growing up mom put raisins in our pumpkin cookies -- which I LOVED) which added a nice touch.

Tiramisu Cheesecake

Reviewed: May 15, 2009
Although the ratings on the Kraft website rated this excellent, I have to wonder if people really tried this recipe. I really didn't care for this, although hubby liked it. To me this just doesn't taste like tiramisu at all. I wouldn't even say a great cheesecake. The required time/temp results in a cracked cheesecake - that is very dry. I will look elsewhere for a better recipe.

Mandarin Pork Roast

Reviewed: May 8, 2009
Made exactly as written, except I didn't have the oranges. I did double the sauce, which was delicious and a good idea. I cooked the meat in the oven to 156 degrees which was absolutely melt in your mouth perfect. Next time I will use less rosemary, as hubby and myself thought it was a little overpowering. Kids (2 & 3 year old) loved it too! They loved the sauce but also didn't care for the rosemary on top either.

Gulliver's Cream Corn

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2009
This was to die for!!! Had this for Easter dinner with ham, scalloped potatoes, and brussel sprouts. Everyone RAVED over this dish. Only thing I did differently was add McCormick's Parmesan Herb seasoning blend to the mixture (as I noticed that other reviews said that the original had parmesan sprinkled over the top). Truly amazing!

Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2009
Made this for New Years Eve and the wing lover's devoured it and raved it. I used chunky blue cheese dressing instead of ranch. I also used grilled chicken breast chopped up instead of canned chix.

Super Sausage Gravy

Makes an awesome breakfast. Made gravy exactly as written and baked up a can of buttermilk biscuits, and hubby asked where I bought it from. He loved it and so did the kids. Will make this over and over and over......

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
This recipe was incredible. I cooked mine in a bunt pant and mixed the 2 most "helpful" instructions. Poked holes in the finished product and poured melted butter, cinnamon and sugar mixed together over the holes. I also added raisins. I think walnuts or pecans would make a great addition too. Think I will make this as gifts for my neighbors this Christmas. Just couldn't stop eating it.

Oranged Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
Very good. I used regular cinnamon seasoning, as I didn't have cinnamon sticks. I also added additional brown sugar, as what was called for wasn't enough for my liking. Also took longer than an hour to cook down, but then again that's all preference, as I do prefer my sauce to be a little thicker and less runny.

Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
Delicious! I didn't know that making Salisbury Steak would be so easy. I added chopped onions to the meat mixture; didn't have a can of french onion, so I substituted with 1/3 a can of beef consumme. Took patties out of pan when browned, added mushrooms, then deglazed pan with remaining beef consumme and added additional can. In bowl mixed together 2 cans of Cream of Mushroom soup, 2 pkg of onion soup mix, plus doubled all gravy ingredients except ketchup. Added that to pan and mixed with consumme. Then added patties back to mix and cooked 20 min. Served with Mashed Potatoes and green beans

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
Fabulous recipe. Used cortland apples & added nutmeg and cinnamon with the flour. Ended up using about 5 or 6 tbsp. of flour as the 3 that was called for didn't make a paste. The filling was incredible. Also used an eggwash for the crust. Will use this recipe from now on for my apple pie.

Wisconsin Bratwurst

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2008
I'm torn on this recipe. I will give it 4 stars, as my husband loved it...although he loves beer. I on the other hand didn't care for that beer taste...I'm obviously not a beer drinker. I thought the beer taste would "cook" off when the brats were grilled. Not the case. I think next time, I will use chicken broth instead of beer.

Oven Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2008
This is "THE BEST" pot roast recipe on this site. I would give this 10+ stars, just for the smell alone while it was cooking. I mean I swear...the dog kept walking around with his nose in the air sniffing and when my husband walked thru the door he said "Oh my God, that smells incredible!" Here is what I did differently: I added seasoned salt and garlic powder to the flour/pepper mixture. I roasted the meat in the same pan that I browned it in. I did not use the wine called for. Instead I deglazed the pan with a can of undiluted beef consumme. I also added halved potatoes and carrots to the pot for the last hour. They were perfect-not mushy. I can honestly say I will never make a pot roast any other way.
