I am a gifted and talented teacher and have been teaching for 21 years. I love to read, sew, paint, and ride our Harley! I also love to go the gym. I lift weights, take aerobics and spin classes and like to run. I have always loved to cook and come from a family of French cooks. After I became widowed, I stopped cooking for some time. However, when my boyfriend, Byron, came into my life, I found my love of cooking once again! It must have something to do with his love of eating!I have my faves but I like to try something new once every week or two. That's why I love this site!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook a myriad of different foods! I try to eat very healthy and don't eat any white bread, white rice, white pasta, or white potatoes. I try to eat very little sugar also. I save that to be savored on very special occasions. This way of eating helped me lose 130 pounds years ago and I love eating this way now! I am convinced that 'you don't eat what you love, you love what you eat!' I love fresh veggies and salads and fish and all kinds of healthy food.
My favorite family cooking traditions
One of my favorite cooking traditions is the progressive dinner party we have each year at Christmas with two other couples. We have been doing this for about 10 years and it is the highlight of Christmas! Because we are the best of friends we can try any recipe and it's ok if it fails! We are with friends! One couple makes the appetizers, one couple prepares the main course, (yikes! It's me this year!), and one couple makes the dessert. We get dressed to the nines and we get to see each others homes all decked out for the holidays! What a fun tradition!
My cooking triumphs
One of my signature recipes is my spiced pumpkin cheesecake! It is baked in a water bath and it melts in your mouth! I only make it once a year!
