Getting Ready

Well, we are getting ready for the big meal on Thanksgiving. Neither one of us has ever made a meal for people before and we are nervus about it. We are hopeing the people from HUndred Nights Shelter can find a ride since we will not have the gas. I want to thank every one for all the help. We printed out the recipes and bought the food for the recipes you reccomended and now we are brainstorming about when to do what.
We had our first snow fall. It was not much. Last year we had 3ft just before Samhain/Haloween but this year we just had maybe 1/4 of an inch.
I need to phone my Uncle who lives in Danville, VA to find out about my cousins, one who lives in Northern VA and teaches at George Mason U and her brother who is a proffeser at USC and his campus is on the South Carolina coast. Thankfull we did fine here with the storm but I am sure Jane got hit hard!
I wish carolyn would get a job!! Its hard living on just my income! I do not have any one to vent to about this. We make it but it would be much easer if she would get a job.
I have a long Amazon list for Christmas and most of it is Carolyns. I hope we can get all of it and that Carolyn likes what I am getting her.
Well, pizza is in the oven so I need to go and check it.
I hope we do an AR Christmas card exchange this year like last.

Hi, Seamus! I'm glad you've decided what you're having for Thanksgiving, and hope that the transportation issure will be solved. I'm sure it's hard with just one income coming in--it seems like grocery prices are higher every time I walk in a store. But many people are finding it very hard to get a job right now. It's very generous of you to have people over for Thanksgiving. I hope all goes well.

About Me
I was born in cadiz, Spain but was raised on the wonderfull island of Okinawa. We moved to United States in 1972 at age 8. I am learning to cook and care for my self at age 46. This IS a chalinge!!
My favorite things to cook
Wow, so many!! I love the foods of Okinawa and Spain the best but I do make mostly Mexican food. I do live about an hour away from Mexico afterall. The food of the South is great, mum's kin moved to VA in 1632. Chinese food is allso awasome!
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmm, maby mum making real fried chicken(I dont eat chicken any more)and making greens and corn bread. Mum was from the rural South and knew how to cook! Da was from canada but I dont think he was a cook.
My cooking triumphs
Finly baked bread that was good. NOT a brick or raw. People evan asked for the recipe!
My cooking tragedies
Are only lesons. A learning tool.
