About this Cook
I am an Australian, married to a wonderful Turkish man as of December 2009, and currently living in Istanbul. I love to travel, and I spent time living in Japan,London and Italy before coming to Turkey. I love to eat, and my favorite cuisine is Japanese, (but I tell my husband it is Turkish). This year I have started working with 2 and 3 year olds in a day care centre/ kindergarten.
My favorite things to cook
At the moment I love playing with yeast. I have tried bagels, pita pockets, pizza crust, dinner rolls, foccacia and naan
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmothers christmas pudding. Unfortunately noone pinned the recipe down when we had the chance, but my sister has done a fine job of taking over the pudding responsibility.
My cooking triumphs
When my husband said my loaf of bread was better than his mothers bread :)

Shish Tawook Marinated Chicken
Loved this! Very simple to prepare and very tasty, plus it was so tender. I did use low fat mayo in the dipping sauce, fresh garlic in the marinade, no allspice or cinnamon. I highly recommend not skipping the sauce, as it is pairs perfectly with the chicken, it's what makes the dish. I left the oil out too, to save on calories

Eggplant with Garlic Sauce
Loved this! Used fresh garlic and much less sugar (about 1 teaspoon) and it was great.

Moroccan Chicken
Really good. I did double the spices (except the cumin) and added more cayenne pepper and quite a bit of salt. Celery is hard to find in Turkey so left that out. My husband went back for seconds and told me to make it again. It was very easy to make, healthy, filling and I like that there are no odd/ expensive ingredients in it.
