Orange Herb Roasted Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2014
I found that the orange taste didn't permeate the meat as well as I expected and I even used the zest! I would use this again, but not necessarily for a whole chicken...

Too sweet for my taste but others that tried it didn't seem to mind.

Ok, but would be better with the addition of some feta

Simple White Cake

Very tasty and makes a perfect amount of batter for a dozen cupcakes. I like to add a bit of plain yogurt (~1tsp) to keep it moist. This is also really tasty with the addition of some matcha (green tea powder).

Ciabatta Bread

Reviewed: May 15, 2012
I combined the sugar, yeast, and warm water and let is sit for about 10 minutes (until it got nice and cloudy) before adding it to the other ingredients. I don't have a bread machine so I used my electric mixer. It took about 15 minutes on speed 6 for the dough to pass the window pane test. My only change to the ingredients was adding a few pinches of rosemary as per another reviewer to give it a bit more flavour. Next time I think I'll add thyme or good italian seasoning mix instead. I made one loaf and half a dozen buns from 1 batch of this. The buns are amazing with the grilled portobello mushrooms from this site!

Best Marinara Sauce Yet

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2012
Excellent with the addition of some basil! EDIT: I made this again as a red clam sauce and it was FANTASTIC. I added the liquid from 1 can of clams as well as some more juice from a bottle and let the sauce simmer. Added the baby clams a few minutes before serving so they could heat through but wouldn't over-cook.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
The batter was so thick that I had to spread it with a spatula, rather than just pouring it and it naturally forming a circle. Aside from that, these were very tasty.

Jambalaya

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2012
Delicious! Can't get italian seasoned crushed tomatoes where I am so I used diced instead - I liked the texture of the diced better anyways. The taste would change a lot depending on the hot sauce used.

Newport Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2012
As written, this would be very bland, however this is quite tasty with the addition of bacon. Don't cut back on the clam juice though or it won't have the underlying clam taste, regardless of how many actual clams you toss in. I mis-read the recipe and was 1 bottle short on the juice and it was quite noticeable.

Chinese-Style Baby Bok Choy with Mushroom Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
Added a bit of ground ginger along with the minced garlic. This is now my favorite veggie stir fry recipe. It's nice and subtle so it doesn't overpower whatever you're pairing it with (ginger beef in my case).

Boardwalk Quality Maple Walnut Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2011
I agreed with CherylB, the overwhelming taste is of white chocolate, not maple. My fudge turned out too gooey and since there isn't any cooking involved I know it can't be blamed on the temperature not being right.

Tasty but nothing jaw-dropping. Seemed like something was missing, maybe some paprika on the chicken would help.

Creamy Cajun Shrimp Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2011
Glad I read the reviews first, used half milk/half cream. Tasted the sauce after simmering for a while and it was very bland. Added ~1/2 cup of Parmesan (slowly added and stirred into the sauce) and several pinches of black pepper. After these additions, the sauce was delicious, but not spicy (I like a fair amount of heat). I think this would be even more amazing with blackened chicken instead of shrimp.
