Chef John's Turkey Sloppy Joes

When I think of sloppy joes I don't think spicy and these were spicy. My kids wouldn't eat them and normally they love them. I used half of what to recipe called for. Disappointing!

Asian Lettuce Wraps

I have made this many times. We LOVE it! Please make it with ground turkey instead of hamburger. I made it with hamburger one time and it tasted like hamburger. When you make it with ground turkey it tastes identical to the restaurant. Oh, and I have never made it with water chestnuts because I have never had them when I make this recipe.

Simple Whole Wheat Bread

I make this all the time. It is my go to recipe. I do leave out the second 1/3 cup of honey because I think it is too sweet. I definitly cook it for 30 minutes otherwise it is too gummy for my tastes. I also use a bocsh mixer so I don't take it out on a board to kneed it. I just add all the flour in the mixer until it doesn't stick any more. If you are not used to making bread keep reaplying olive oil to your hands when you are making each loaf, it is sticky. I don't brush the tops with butter because I like the crust better without. I think it makes it too soft. Great bread!

Goat Cheese and Arugula over Penne

Two and my kids did not like this but my husband and one child did. I thought this was very bland. No flavor. It could be so much better with some extra spices or something. I will not make this again. I did follow the directions exactly.

Foolproof Rib Roast

That was awesome! I did pan sear it before puting it in the oven. That is supposed to keep the juices in. Everything else I did exactly as written.

Healthier Southern Peach Cobbler

The directions are wrong. Mine completely burned in about 22 minutes. I smelled burning and went to the oven and sure enough, burned. The recipe may be ok but if the directions are wrong than it's not a good recipe.

Lemony Lentils with Kale

That was so good! I ate a whole bowl before I realized I didn't put any lemon in it so I didn't end up putting any in. I only used 1/4 tsp. of crushed red pepper because my children do not like anything spicy. It was still a little spicy for them but my husband and I loved it! I also used a sprouted bean medley instead of just lentils because that is what I had on had. Loved this recipe! Will make it again for sure!

Mushroom Chicken Piccata

This was quite yummy! I followed the recipe except for wine I just used a cup and a half of chicken broth. My pan wasn't big enough for the chicken and mushrooms so I sauteed the chicken, took the chicken out, sauteed the mushrooms, took the mushrooms out, put the juice/broth in then the chicken then the mushrooms on top. My four year old said, "that's delicious!" Very tasty!
