Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2010
Make ABSOLUTELY SURE you allow the chocolate mixture to cool completely before mixing it with the other ingredients, or else the cake won't rise much. I made this mistake, and my layers turned out to be dense, and not very tall. It still tasted great, just wasn't as tall and impressive as it should've been.

Ladyfingers

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
Made these when I needed lady fingers for a dessert recipe, and the grocery store informed me they only carry the premade kind later in the summer. Having never made them before, I was pleased how easy these are. And how well they turned out! Follow ELPARSONS' advice: don't overwhip the eggs. Makes for a nice, delicate lady finger.

Spinach and Strawberry Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Took this to an Easter dinner, got great compliments! Excellent flavors and dressing consistency. Fresh strawberries really make this a fun salad. Next time I make it, I'll be sure to get baby spinach. The flavors and textures really deserve a more delicate leaf than the leathery old regular spinach I used this time.

Strawberry Torte

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
I just took this to an Easter dinner, and it was a success! Just the right consistency and mixture of flavors. Not too tangy, not too sweet, really delightful! Since the grocery store informed me they did not carry the ladyfingers, I made them myself the night before using a recipe from this site. It wasn't hard, and they turned out great. I loved this torte, and would make it again in a flash!

Bacon Cheddar Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2010
Excellent. I brought these to an Easter dinner, and loved them! Didn't know whether "mustard" meant prepared mustard or mustard powder, so I used yellow mustard, and they turned out perfect. Since the crumbled bacon gives the filling a few lumps, I wouldn't bother piping it into the eggs with a pastry bag and a fancy tip (which would create the pretty swirls you see in the picture). I used a 1-gallon Ziploc bag and cut off the corner.
