Home-Style Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2010
This was just what I was looking for: simple, classic scalloped potatoes. I made this exactly as written and it was perfect. The sauce thickened beautifully with 1% milk (no need to reduce the amount of milk or add more thickener). I sliced my potatoes on the slicer part of my cheese grater, so they were nice and thin and they were fully cooked in 60 minutes (no need to parboil). Yes, there is lots of room to play with the recipe by adding cheese, garlic, ham, herbs, etc.--and I'm sure those variations are yummy--but it is also wonderful exactly as it is. I suggest trying this recipe as written first before making changes.

These didn't work for me. They came out very, very heavy.

Creamy Slow Cooker Potato Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 30, 2006
Delicious comfort food. Ours turned out too thick, so we added extra milk to make it soup onsistency. It's more prep work than I usually think of for a crockpot meal, but it's worth the effort.

SOOOOO YUMMY!!! I used russets. Don't skip the crockpot step because it gives it a wonderful texture and consistency. And if you have a large crockpot, double the recipe. Trust me, nothings going to waste.

Perfect Lemon Curd

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2003
Other reviews made me nervous, so I used a very low heat and didn't stop stirring. It took about 25 minutes, but the result was perfect. Next time I'll brave a little higher temperature. Thanks for a great recipe. I'll never buy it in a jar again.

My picky husband declares this sauce an enthusiastic "perfect!" Thanks so much for sharing this recipe. Now I'm ready to make prime rib. (Although my husband will eat this on anything!)

My whole family can't get enough of this. They beg for it every week. The marinade is wonderful poured over brown rice. Awesome!

Avocado Salsa

Love this!! We do like to make it mexican style by substituting cilantro, black beans, and jalapenos for the oregano, olives, and red peppers. Delicious on an omelette. Thanks so much for a really terrific recipe!

Disappointed with this one. No bad, but not great. Just blah. Have many better ways to fix chicken.

Slow Cooker Barbecue Ribs

These ribs were, as promised, fall-off-the-bone tender. However, I found that cooking the ribs and sauce together made the sauce too greasy for my tastes. My husband and children loved it, though.

Mom's Casserole

I love this casserole!!! This is one one my very favorite things to make. The cream cheese, the beef and tomato sauce, the cheese topping...it's all so yummy! To make preparation simpler, I just do one set of layers: beef, noodles, cream cheese, beef, cheddar topping.

Beef Pot Pie III

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2001
I love this recipe and so does my family. However, it's even yummier with extra sauce. I double the sauce, and it makes a huge difference. If you can't fit it all into the pie, serve the extra sauce on the side. So good!
