About this Cook
I love knowing what's in my food. My parents are farmers so I grew up eating fresh eggs, organic meat and vegetables and raw milk. I now live in the city and I don't neccesarily use ingredients that are 'fresh from the farm' but I still like to know what goes into my food and I try to make a healthy version of every dish I prepare. For example, instead of buying cereal or granola I will buy all the seperate ingredients (oats, wheat germ, wheat brax, flax, coconut, hazelnuts, almonds, dried cranberries, hemp seeds, honey etc.) and make my own version. Not only will it be home-made but often it will also be healthier and cheaper!
My favorite things to cook
I like making ordinary foods extraordinary and healthy. I used to love making cookies and desserts but my husband doesn't have as much of a sweet tooth as I do and my neighbours and co-workers started to ask me how they can 'repay' me for all the food I gave away. I took that as a hint and started focussing on main dishes instead.

Megan's Granola
Great base recipe! I like how I can add anything I want and it'll still taste good every time! The only issue I have with this recipe: It makes a huge batch and it WILL go stale after about 2 weeks.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II
I thought I'd try this for a change but found the cake dry on the inside and the crust was very crunchy. Also, the cake stuck to my pan so much that I couldn't get it out 10 minutes after it came out of the oven despite having greased the pan (and not after 30 minutes either). I consider myself a very experienced baker but this recipe did not do it for me.
