Puppy Chow

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2011
One word: Nutella! I wanted to make puppy chow for some British friends while studying abroad in the UK. English grocery stores, however, do not sell chocolate chips in large quantities. As a solution, I substituted Nutella (a chocolate hazelnut spread) for chocolate. I also added butter, because I didn't want to skimp on flavour for friends who had never tasted it :) The result was phenomenal! The Nutella added a smooth, nutty, outstanding flavour. It also made the puppy chow significantly richer, though, so you may want to watch out for that. (Although I didn't measure how much I put in, so that might just be poor judgment on my part.)

Fudge-Nut Oatmeal Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2010
I am a college student, and these bars are regular attendants at our Bible study nights. They are soft, chocolatey slabs of heaven on Earth. I'd probably like them even more if I had the self-discipline to stop and savor their flavor while I am rapidly inhaling them. We make them without nuts, and they turn out great every time!
