Avocado Smoothie

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2013
I've tried to hide things in smoothies for my daughter for quite a while with no success. She always detects (and rejects) the healthy ingredient. This smoothie was different. The avocado doesn't hide. It's the star of the show and it tastes great. I used plain yogurt with a few drops of vanilla extract because its what I had on hand. I upped the honey a little to ensure success (but it doesn't need it). Next time, I'll decrease the honey back to 3 Tbs.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

super moist cake. absolutely devine. i doubled the topping and added it with about 10/15 minutes left to bake, but otherwise, i wouldn't change a thing.

Authentic French Meringues

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2013
the slow bake method on really low heat is what sets this apart from other failed recipes i've tried. it's crisp all the way through, just like its supposed to be.

excellent. a decent amount of prep time considering i am used to store-bought mix, but it was worth it.

Barley Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
For some reason, this takes way longer to bake than the directions for me. Maybe it's my oven? Regardless, this is a VERY tasty and healthful recipe. It's a regular dish in our house.

Lime-Curry Tofu Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2012
Excellent. I added a tablespoon of sugar because I can't resist a slightly sweet coconut curry, but it's still great without.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
I made this with a 1lb loaf of bread from my bread machine, so I wasn't sure how the proportions would work. I doubled the liquid portion (using a 9x13) and while pouring, it looked like too much so I withheld some of the liquid. Turned out perfectly and I think next time, I will use all of the liquid to maybe give it more custard.

Coconut Curry Tofu

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2011
great flavor! we only had curry paste on hand (rather than powder) and we substituted some of the vegetables for ones we had on hand. and i accidentally left out some of the soy sauce. still, it was excellent. will definitely make again.

Food Processor Chocolate Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2011
this was awesome. i didn't have a whip attachment for the food processor, but the regular puree attachment worked great. it's not all light and airy, but the consistency is really nice and firm. it tasted almost like chocolate mousse and not too sweet either.

Tres Leches 'Three Milks'

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2011
Excellent. Loved the texture of the cake. It was perfect. The only change I made was to cook my meringue as suggested by the previous reviewer. I used boiling syrup but I could never get the meringue to thicken properly, so I ended up beating it over a double boiler until the consistency was right. Will go straight to the double boiler next time. Although the meringue did not hold up the fridge as well as I had hoped, I will definitely go through the trouble of cooking it again just o be on the safe side.

For a first time bread maker, this was the perfect recipe. I'm now using the recipe to branch out and experiment, but even on its own merits, we'll be making this one again and again.

Home Style Macaroni and Cheese

We loved this recipe. The only thing we changed was to include the whole 1 lb. box of macaroni. With that much macaroni, the amount of cream cheese was perfect.

Exquisite Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2010
Great taste! I've made this several times with good results and lots of compliments. Next time, I think I'll try for a fresher-tasting sauce by using crushed tomatoes instead of the paste/water mixture.
