Pasta Shells with Portobello Mushrooms and Asparagus in Boursin Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2012
My family loved this dish! Ridiculously easy to make! I served it with sliced chicken tenderloin. Sauce was a little on the thin side - may boil down a bit more next time and/or add a bit of constarch. The mushrooms make the dish. Last thing: consder cutting up the asparagus and saute with mushrooms. WINNER DISH!

Banana Banana Bread

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
Very good and easy recipe; I used 4 ripe bananas and cooked for 60 minutes; I added 1 tsp vanilla extract and a bunch of cinnamon, too. Super easy way to use overly ripe bananas.

Steff's Shepherd Pie

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2011
Shockingly good for the effort. Of course, it's better if you season your beef with the usual stuff (garlic, onion, etc.).

Peanut Butter Vegetable Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2011
Very good soup...my alterations were to add some ground coriander, cilantro (instead of parsley), and chick peas. For veggies, I used potato, green pepper, celery, and onion. Oh, I also added some tiny shells of pasta. Very good and fast!!

Vanilla Wafer Cake IV

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2011
My family went crazy over this cake...and, it only took me 10 minutes to throw together. It is VERY sweet and VERY dense...and VERY yummy. I frosted mine with a simple cream cheese frosting. Note: you do not need a bundt pan...I made mine in a 10in round cake pan and it worked just fine.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2011
It's tasty...but, it seems a bit ridiculous that the amount of sugar is nearly equal to the amount of flour. Id encourage you to be creative and create a healthier version for your family: white whole wheat flour, applesauce, decreased sugar (maybe sugar substitute if not serving to kids)....

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
Pretty darn good..add a little more salt and a tad more water. I have been making this recipe for over a year and it is very reliable. Some tips: you can substitute oil for butter and honey/agave for the sugar. I make this in my oven...350 degrees for 35 mins. Also, you can sub white wheat flour fir a portion (about a third or half) of the white flour for a healthier loaf. After you start making your own bread, you will wonder why you ever buy bread...so easy and much healthier than most store loaves.

Chicken With Mushrooms

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2011
Very nice recipe, but you must saute the mushrooms first with a combo of something like onion, garlic, and tarragon...I didn't add cream of mushroom soup like others suggested, but it's lovely without...

Sweet Potato, Carrot, Apple, and Red Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
This is okay, but I won't make it again. It's a very sweet soup and the flavors taste as you would expect if you blended sweet potato, carrots, and apples together. Definitely better before pureeing...after the puree, it is very similar to baby food.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2010
Definitely an easy, crowd-pleasing recipe! I more than doubled the jalepenos and the flavor was great (not too spicy). Serve with pita chips. A super simple party recipe that's made for a crock pot.

This was ultra boring. The effort was simple, but so were the results. I do not recommend this.

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

Very easy and good. Add a bit (1/3 to 1/2 cup) light cream or whipping cream for a more rich experience.

Easy Indian Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2008
This is a terrific recipe. If the amount of butter troubles you, I think it's safe to reduce the quantity. Also, I bet light cream would work well. My advice is experiment with the butter/cream...the recipe seems versatile. Also, I added a can of petite diced tomatoes and they added a nice thickness/texture. Green peppers would also go well. I'm Indian, so I'm a tough critic of most Asian recipes...this one is truly great!

Sweet and Sour Pork III

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
Very good recipe - and, quite easy. A couple of tips: don't use pork butt, it's very fatty and just a poor cut of meat. I used tenderloin, but any kind of chop/loin would be fine. Also, I omitted the celery and didn't miss it at all. It makes a nice big pot...so, make a lot of rice.

Steve's Chicken Korma

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2007
Very good dish. My only modification was to add more ground almonds. Also, if you like spicy dishes, I'd throw in a few chili pepppers as the dish was not spicy in any way. Definitely a keeper! And, extremely quick to make. Thanks, Steve!

Ewwww. This really was horrible. The smell itself made me scared to try the dish. However, I did try it and sadly, the smell was better than the taste. Stay away from this dish.

Cranberry-Black Cherry Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2006
This was a nice recipes; however, it really does does like black cherry yogurt, so I'm not sure it's worth it. It's definitely not an elegant dish for your holiday menu, but is an inexpensive, easy one that most people will enjoy (but, not love).

Spinach Deviled Eggs

Reviewed: May 28, 2006
This recipe was simply mediocre. Personally, I think the mixture tasted better before adding the spinich and bacon. The vinegar was a nice touch. I made a batch of these eggs along with a batch regular deviled eggs - the regular ones were a bigger hit. Don't get your hopes about the many 5-star ratings for this recipe.

Cinnamon Rolls I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
VERY soft and tasty rolls. Double the gooey stuff. Only criticism is in the name of the recipe...these are NOT cinnamon rolls...they are sticky rolls. Some reviewers have iced the rolls...I think that would be a bit much. The rolls are very sweet as is. Lastly, you can make the recipe the nite before and keep it in the fridge. In the morning, let the pan sit outside for 30 minutes and then bake as the recipe indicates. If your family loves sticky rolls, this is a wonderful recipe.

HORRIBLE!!!!!!!! Too sweet and just plain bad. It tastes like something that a 5-year old would try to throw together. Don't even think about making this for a party. YUCK.
