Elephant Ears

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2012
These were good, but not great! They puff up too much so they don't evenly brown. They aren't the same as what you get at fairs. We found the cinnamon to sugar ratio off as well. Way too much cinnamon and not enough sugar. The dough itself needs to be sweeter as well.

Whipped Cream

Super easy! Super good! I made this last night and it was great. I used two tablespoons of sugar just like someone else suggested and it was perfect.

Honey Wheat Bread I

Reviewed: May 17, 2012
I debated on whether to give this recipe 3 or 4 stars. I guess I would say it's a 3 1/2... It was good, but not spectacular. I was expecting more from this recipe. I was looking for "WOW" kind of moment. It really was lacking something, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Stand alone by itself is was just OK at best. With butter on it, it was better. As toast it was good. Although it was an easy recipe, I am not sure I will make it again

Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2012
The only reason I didn't give this recipe 5 stars is that I had to alter the recipe to make them moist and tasty. If you make this recipe as it is written you will be sorry and end up with dry crumbly muffins. Here's what I did and I recommend you do the same. Use 1 cup of milk, 1/2 cup vegetable oil, and a 1/2 tsp of vanilla. If you follow those measurements, you will end up with a moist flavorful muffin. Make sure you spray your muffin tin well. And the side of the tin too, not just the bottom. I used regular sized chocolate chips since that was all I had and they worked well in the recipe.

One and a Half Minute Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2012
not at all what I was expecting. The taste was ok, but they never dried out. Looked nothing like the picture. Mine were moist and I had to roll them into a ball and cover with powdered sugar just to keep them from falling apart. I will not attempt these again.

Chocolate Popcorn

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2011
Nice change from plain popcorn, but not as good as caramel corn. Might make it again for a special occasion.

Cheddar and Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2011
It's OK. Nothing special, but not bad either. However, the next day it is DRY! Extremely dry. I doubt I will make it again. There are other, better options if you want macaroni salad.

Big Soft Ginger Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2011
I did not care for this recipe. If you want them soft you have to under bake them.. If you want them crispy you bake them longer and then they are really crispy. No real in between. The flavor was "off". They flavors didn't seem to blend well. I wanted to take them to a PTA meeting tonight. NO WAY! now I have to make something else.

Quick Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
I did not like these at all. The dough is WAY too sticky to deal with. I had to spoon them into the muffin tins. They were not light and fluffy the way you'd expect yeast rolls to be. They tasted like they were missing something....still can't figure out what. I will not be making them again!

Nutella® Cheesecake

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2011
Made this for church. It was a big hit. I took others advice and did not add sugar. It was very sweet and didn't need it at all. I used a chocolate graham cracker crust (I made it) and it worked very well. Make sure your cream cheese is well softened. Otherwise it's hard to get it really creamy. Once I had all the ingredients together in the mixer I whipped it with the beater on a pretty fast setting to incorporate some air into it to make sure it was fluffy. I would make it again sometime.

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2011
These are pretty yummy, but they didn't taste like a reese's peanut butter cup to me. Still good thought. Took them to a church potluck and there were none left. An entire pan may be too much unless you plan to share. Make sure your graham crackers are finely crushed unless you like chunks in your bars. Keep refridgerated until ready to eat.

Maple Syrup Korean Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2011
OH MY GOSH! This is so yummy. I tweaked the recipe a little. I used less pepper. Only 1 teaspoon. I double the rest of the sauce as suggested by others. I used boneless skinless thighs and grilled them instead of broiling them. To thicken the sauce I used 3 tbls corn starch blended with 3 tbls water. It came out perfectly. I didn't make the rice the way the recipe suggested since I have a rice cooker. I will be making this next week for the 4th of July BBQ we are having.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Mar. 27, 2011
I will NEVER EVER buy caramel corn at the store again. This is the absolutely the best in the world. And so easy to make. I put my popcorn in a paper bag and poured the caramel over the top and shook very well. Then transferred it to the baking pan. The result was evenly coated caramel corn.

Italian Dressing Mix

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
I haven't made this into dressing so I can't vouch for how it tastes that way. But I have used it to cook with. Let me tell you, it's amazing. I've used it in chicken dishes, pasta dishes, and today I added some to the homemade pizza dough I made for lunch. No more buying italian dressing packets for this family.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
These are really yummy. But buttery they are not. There is no butter in them, therefore they yield no buttery flavor. My family liked them, but if you are looking for a sweeter buttery flavored pretzel this is no the recipe to use.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2011
This is a great basic recipe. I made just as the recipe states and I found two huge flaws. First off, it's more of a dip than a dressing. It's thick. And let me tell you, we normally like our dressing thicker than thin. We found that this dressing was even too thick for us. Next, it was really bland. I will make this again but with play around with it until I can get it right. More seasonings, less mayo and maybe add some milk to thin it just a bit.

Dry Buttermilk Ranch Mix

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2011
I was so excited to see this recipe. All the great reviews gave me such high hopes for this recipe. I am disappointed beyond words. I thought (as did my family) it was terrible. First off it's way too much onion. And it was missing something, I am not sure what yet. It's not smooth as you would expect ranch to be. I pulsed it in my food processor many times and the minced onion doesn't break down enough. The chunkiness is a personal preference, but it's still way too much onion. The only reason why I gave it 2 stars instead on the original one I had, is that I am willing to try it again and put in less onion and play around with the other ingredients to see if I can make it better. Otherwise, I just wasted money buying the buttermilk powder.

Baja Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
Pretty close tot he taco bell version. I found it hard to puree such a small amount of stuff. And as others have said, the amount of peppers and onions listed makes enough for a double batch. I did double the mayo and other wet ingredients to make up for that. Next time I will try roasting the pepper and onion first. I think it will intensify the flavors. I didn't find it to mayo-ee as others said, but I will play around with using some non fat plain yogurt or non fat sour cream to lower the fat content in the sauce.

Mint Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2010
These were good and tasty. Not great wow your socks off cookies, but still tasty none the less. Quick and easy. I think next time I will make a chocolate chip cookie dough and add the mint, food coloring, and mint baking chips to that.
