Polish Sausage and Pierogy Haluski

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2013
This was excellent. Very easy to prepare, comes together quickly. I also didn't use beef broth, and I wonder if beer would have changed the flavor in a negative way. Although I didn't add sugar, it had a bit of a sweet taste, probably from the onion. I would definitely recommend this dish without any changes.

Grilled Portobello Sandwich with Roasted Red Pepper and Mozzarella

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2011
This is a wonderful meatless sandwich. Try omitting the tomato and basil, and use smoked mozzarella instead. It's heaven on bun. Next time I will make it as a panini.

Pesto Chicken 'n' Ravioli

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2011
Love at first bite. Also used fresh red bell pepper. It's similar to a ravioli dish I make for Fridays during lent. Just layer the ravioli with alfredo sauce thinned with a little vegetable broth, and some fresh chopped spinach with pesto added. Top with 6-cheese italian blend and bake. Rich but wonderfl, just like this dish.

Sauerkraut Meatball Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2011
This was delicious, a real keeper. I made it exactly as written. I think the person who gave this recipe 1 star may have used sweetened condensed milk instead of evaporated milk, because this is not a sweet soup as written. They are 2 very different products.

Kielbasa with Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
This was delicious. Made exactly as written except my husband's tummy doesn't "do" green peppers well so I used red instead. I brought the leftovers for lunch the next day, and I don;t usually do that. Mmmmm.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2011
I made this exactly as submitted and it was wonderful. No need to use only half a packet of the seasoning, as the flavor is mild in the end. Tons of sauce to put over noodles. Rich and creamy, a definite comfort food. And it couldn't be easier to make.

Wonderful Waffles

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2010
These waffles were absolutely wonderful. Beating the egg whites is important as it incorporates air and makes them light. I always add a bit of vanilla to my waffles and pancakes, also. Sometimes cinnamon. (I can't believe a reviewer would give this wonderful recipe 3 stars because it's too much work at 5am. DUH! Stick to cold cereal or toast, then!!)

Waffles II

This version is perfect. Not too sweet, but a little sweet. Just a hint of vanilla, reminds me of vanilla cake. Light, airy and crispy. Thanks!

Cranberry Pecan Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 25, 2008
This was an absolutely delicious salad. I had many requests for this recipe at the pot luck I brought it to. If I could have given more stars, I would have. On a side note, I don't believe reviewers should knock a recipe down because "of the high fat content". If that were the case, all pastry, cookie, salad dressings etc would have to be downgraded. We don't need nutrition police in the reviews, we are perfectly capable of checking out the nutritional guide ourselves. Now I will step down from my soapbox :-)

Broccoli Beef I

Followed recipe exactly, and it was quite insipid, bland and boring. Next time I will double all the spices, and perhaps add some sesame oil..

Cheesy Chicken and Chive Sauce

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
This is a wonderful recipe. The first time I made it just as written. The second time I didn't slice the breasts but left them whole, topped with a roasted red bell pepper, then smothered all with the sauce. I served this over rice, and it really took 30 minutes or less to make. Thanks for the recipe!

Chocolate Mousse Loaf

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2008
I've made this same recipe for years. It is rich, dense, and just super chocolatey. A very elegant, impressive dessert. I make a small pool of a vanilla creme sauce on the plate, then place a slice of this loaf, then 3 small round pools of raspberry sauce on top of the vanilla sauce, about the size of a quarter.Draw a small sharp knife point through the raspberry sauce, and it ends up looking like hearts.

Wisconsin Native's Beer Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2007
Wonderful soup. I used a light beer, next time I will use a darker one, as the taste of the beer was just discernable. I also blended the vegetables after sauteing them as I like a smooth soup. Lots of popcorn on top!!! Thank you from the dairyland of Minnesota!
