Chocolate Bar Fondue

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
This recipe is so easy! I left out the coffee as I wasn't sure if others would like the taste. I also left out the water because I've always been taught that water and chocolate do not mix and the chocolate will seize up. It was fine and the right consistency with out it. I cut the recipe in half (for a 8 person dinner party) and still had some left over! Very simple and very good recipe.

Best Formula Three-Cheese Fondue

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2011
This is the first time I've made cheese fondue and this recipe was easy and delicious! I took advice of others and shredded the cheese and then mixed with the flour before adding to the wine. I had a slight problem with the fondue separating, but that was fixed by putting it back on the stove. I was very happy with this recipe.

Crusty Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2011
These rolls were just ok. Nothing spectacular, nothing bad. I have to agree with a lot of people, these didn't have much flavor (yes, bread should have flavor!) There was no salt or yeast taste, just kind of blah. Soft texture, hard and chewy crust, but pale even when cooked longer then suggested. Might be good with herbs and butter added.

Cake Batter Ice Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
So yummy! It's more the consistency of frozen custard, then ice cream but the flavor is delicious and rich!!! Mix in any kind of toppings to create a unique "cake" ice cream! Try sprinkles and fudge sauce, or mixing in strawberries and top with whip cream for a strawberry short cake theme! The possibilities are endless. I received many compliments.

Slow Cooker Scalloped Potatoes with Ham

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
This is a great recipe, the only thing I did differently was used cream of chicken soup instead of cream of mushroom. Only because some in my family do not like mushrooms. I omitted the salt, figuring there was enough in the soup and ham. This is a very good, basic and easy recipe. It's obviously not fancy, gourmet food but very down-home, comfort kind of food!

Harvest Rice Dish

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
This dish was pretty good, but it seemed to lack a good flavor, other then the sweetness from the cranberries, I might try adding some herbs next time. I served it at a dinner party and everyone liked it, but I have a few complaints about it being too many cranberries.

Bread Pudding III

Reviewed: Oct. 3, 2010
I'm not an expert on bread pudding, I couldn't even tell you the last time I've had it, but this was so good!! I think it might have been a touch too soft and liquid-y. Also, it took a lot longer to cook then the recipe instructed, but the flavors are amazing!! I left out the raisins as a personal preference, maybe next time I might try other dried fruits.

Honey Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
I made this on the grill, since it is summer time, and it turned out pretty good. The chicken was very moist and the flavors work well together, I just wish it had a more stronger flavor to it. Also, I thought it would be more like a honey-glaze and was slightly disappointed that it wasn't a thick coat of glaze over the chicken. I think next time I might try what other reviews have said and make a sauce w/ the marinade (only don't use the marinade the chicken has been in- salmonella and other health concerns-make a fresh batch and reduce it)

Sophie's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
I wasn't too impressed with this bread, it seemed to lack something and I'm not sure exactly what. The texture was a little spongy and dry for a quick bread recipe. While it wasn't bad, I've certainly have better zucchini bread before.

The Best Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
I think this lemon bar really is (almost) the best! A former co-worker of mine has a secret recipe for lemon bars that was really the best I've ever had, and I have been searching for an equivalent recipe. I think this recipes comes close! The only thing I changed was adding more lemon juice. It's hard to tell what "juice of two lemons" means, since lemon sizes and the juice they extract varies. I would say about 1/2 cup to 2/3 cups of lemon juice, depending on your taste preference!

Italian Buttercream

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2010
This recipe is not much better then the shortening & confectioner's sugar recipes. I was very disappointed and ended up making another frosting. Too much shortening, it ended up leaving a very unpalatable greasy coating in the mouth. This recipe is not worth the effort!

Wedding Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2010
I thought this was a very good, simple and really easy recipe! I don't know what the one reviewer said about it being too dense, it was slightly dense but nothing like pound cake. I have made this three times now. I've cut it down to about 2 cups sugar, it was too sweet for my personal taste. You can easily substitute other flavoring extracts for the vanilla (such as raspberry, almond, lemon..) and make a custom cake with a bit more flavor.

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
Fantastic! One of the best carrot cake's I've ever tasted. I omitted the raisins just as a personal preference. I think next time I might add more carrots. Also, I think I will run the coconut through the food processor, some of the flakes of coconuts were too long and was distracting the texture of the cake.

Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2010
This recipe is really easy to make and tastes great! Just make sure to cook it long enough to where the top and sides are a very golden brown! I've made it three times and had great results every time! However, I would recommend eating this bread right away, after a day or two it starts to change and takes on a different(and awful) taste and color!
