I'm a lover of the beautiful landscape I live in, my amazing husband, family, and close friendships. I love good music, fresh, locally produced food, good wine, and stories--always stories. Hosting a meal for friends on a warm summer evening may be my idea of paradise on earth.
My favorite things to cook
I'm mostly a baker, thanks to an insatiable sweet tooth. Cakes and cookies are my favorite. I'm always looking for a new cake or cookie recipe to try.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Like most people, my favorite cooking memories and traditions surround the holidays. My sister and I have always been close, and growing up, we learned to bake together. We live apart now, but at Christmas time we look forward to being together and baking a batch of my grandma's recipe for big, soft sugar cookies- cut in holiday shapes and frosted with powdered sugar frosting.
My cooking triumphs
I grew up vegetarian, and meat is still foreign and a bit scary to me. Because of my deep fear of undercooked meat, I almost always overcook it. So, any time the meat is NOT overcooked is a triumph in my book.
My cooking tragedies
All that chicken, pork and steak I've overcooked. Especially the expensive cuts.
