Wedding Day :)
About this Cook
I'm a 26 year old mother and wife who loves to cook and try new food. I will try any food at least once. I married the love of my life on March 20, 2010. Our son, Jaxon, is 2 years old and keeps us busy. I work part time at our local college and attend classes full time, so needless to say time is always running short. I love to make delicious meals for my family and introducing new foods to my son. I utilize my crock-pot whenever possible. It amazes me that I can throw in a few ingredients in the morning and when I get home we have a delicious dinner. I try to cook a variety of healthy food but every now and then I love a good piece of fried chicken with swet corn and mashed potatoes and gravy. Yummy :)
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook all things. The one thing I am not very good at doing is grilling. That's my husband's job. ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
My parents are divorced so we always have more than one holiday meal to attend. My dad's side of the family does the traditional Thanksgiving meal every year. So one year, probably 5 or 6 years ago, my mom decided to shake her dinners up a bit. One year we had italian, one year mexican. It's different every year, And myself and my two brothers always help her cook which can turn into more of a comedy show than anything.
My cooking triumphs
Just this last year for Christmas I made iced sugar cookies to take to work. I was so proud of them. They were soft on the inside with a little crunch when you bit into them. The office raved about them and everyone wanted my recipe. It was an awesome feeling.
My cooking tragedies
I don't eat beef or any product containing beef. So I had always wanted to try the little smokie things in barbeque sauce. Well, one day at WalMart I found some that were made of turkey so I thought what the heck. I had always thought you prepared them in a crock-pot so I put mine in early in the morning and didn't home for probably 7 hours. They were burnt to a crisp. I didn't know they only needed to be in for an hour or two. My sweet husband tried one at least. It was pretty funny.

Grandma Johnson's Scones
Most scones I have had usually tend to be dry. These are perfect. I added chopped fresh rosemary and lemon zest instead of raisins. Yummy!

No Roll Sugar Cookies
I am so happy to find a recipe for a fluffy, soft sugar cookie! I didn't have cream of tarter so I used baking powder instead. These cookies have a delicious flavor and a delightful texture. I will absolutely be using this as my sugar cookie recipe from now on.

Sean's Falafel and Cucumber Sauce
This is by far the best falafel I have ever had and the best part is I made it myself! I would not change a thing. It is absolutely perfect as it is written. If you are on the fence about trying falafel just do it. This recipe will not disappoint. I have served it plain or in a pita with the cucumber sauce and a little shredded lettuce. Yummy!
