Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
great version of the original, I've also made it substituting a part of the sugar sauce with maple syrup for a real sprecial treat!

Avocado Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2012
We have huge avocados here, and I got tired of always making avocado milkshakes. Spotted this and haven't turned back since! I agree that it needs to be a LARGE avocado (or 2 small store bought ones) to be good. It's become a family favorite. I make my own cookie crumble crust though since prepared pie shells are unavailable, but I'm certain that the pie shell would be delicious too.

Hot Fudge Sundae Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
Turned out well, I didn't have brown sugar, so tried it with white, it is NOT a change I recommend. I didn't give it 5stars because I needed to add more milk to make the cake batter, but definitely a recipe worth repeating!

Quick Peach Cobbler

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2013
To make this even quicker, I cut the cook time by pre-baking in the microwave - mine has a 'cake' button, but baking it 8-10 mins in the microwave (until its almost done) and then just toasting it in the oven makes a much quicker dessert!

Eastern European Kotlety

Reviewed: Jul. 4, 2012
If you enjoy a plainer type of meat patty, then this is for you. I personally enjoy things with more flavor. I would try a recipe with a lot more seasonings next time.

Traditional French Canadian Tourtiere

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2012
I made 1/8 of the recipe, for 1.5 pies. used Hot Water Pie Crust II (also from this site) The seasonings were well-balanced, the mix of beef and porc made for a good, moist pie.

Chef John's Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2012
definitely the best tortilla recipe I've found so far (and I've tried quite a few). It rolled out nice and thin, but didn't tear when I lifted it off the counter, tasted great. I used lard instead of vegetable shortening - it was what I had on hand. Thanks for a great recipe with well written instructions.

Made these last year and they turned out great and will be making them again tomorrow. Definitely a staple in my pantry.

Hong Kong Sweet and Sour Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 26, 2012
Great recipe. To shorten prep time I just beat the egg directly over the pork, then placed the pork pieces in a bag to shake the coating. I also used only a tsp of oil in a non-stick frying pan to pan-fry the pork instead of deep frying.

ABC Pudding - Avocado, Banana, Chocolate Delight

Reviewed: May 13, 2014
Because the size of avocados and bananas vary so much, I found the quantities rather misleading. One avocado here gave me almost 4 cups once blended, and our bananas our smaller, so I lost count of how many I put in after discarding bruises and dividing pieces amongst the kids. I poured in cocoa powder to taste, and sweetened condensed milk for extra sweetness. We aren't vegans. Turned out great for our family with these changes

Easter Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2012
really they were great, but only 4 stars bc the peanut butter half was rather too creamy and I ended up adding quite a bit of icing sugar to that half. Maybe it was just the type of peanut butter I used.

Mom's Ranger Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2012
quick to make, and very tasty. To make clean-up easier, I simply mixed the first ingredients, then added the dry in the same bowl. It was a one bowl cookie. Added raisins since they were on hand. Kids loved them.

Peach Cobbler Dump Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2011
Good and quick, a little sweet for my taste. I microwaved the cake since the gas ran out. It worked out well just the same (12 mins on high, or more depending on microwave) Make sure to turn the cake manually if it can't revolve.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
wow, those were quick and easy, and really really good the next day. I was iffy about them, since I tried to eat them warm out of the oven, and they didn't taste great, but after they cooled down and sat around for a day they were sooooo good!

Chicken Pot Pie II

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2010
amazing pot pie, would gladly take the time to make it again. The changes I made were simply out of necessity, I don't have celery, thyme, or frozen vegetables, so I used fresh veggies, steaming them first. I also used a double crust recipe, so I used both halves.

Hunts® Tomato and Bacon Tortellini

great and very easy - I ended up just adding the spices to plain canned tomatoes and tomato sauce, and chives and dried onions to the cream cheese, since it was what I had on hand.

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2012
Only 4 stars bc it needs more spices than the recipe indicates. That being said, I've made it countless times on the stovetop to save time (and dishes!) as some other reviewers suggested.
