Yummy Honey Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2010
AWESOME!!!! These were really, really good. I dont like soy sauce so I used teriyaki and added 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes - It was fantastic - I even overcooked the chicken (i was grilling after dark) and it was still simply wonderful. Next time I will double the sauce/marinade recipe. I even ate the veggies (which is VERY rare for me).

Sweet Green Bean Bundles

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2010
Simply Awesome - I am not a veggie eater so I try to find ways to make them edible for me - I could have eaten every single one of these - the taste was amazing. I was not sure how they would turn out cuz the brown sugar and butter just wouldnt mix well and it didnt "pour" - I had to kind of spoon it on and spread it out but it baked perfectly - I used the microwave bacon and cooked them for about 20 seconds (4 slices) then wrapped - also used fresh green beans that I blanched first. I was also making the bacon ranch salad which i use turkey bacon for so i cooked up a couple extra strips and made a few with turkey bacon - those were just as good. These would be great for Thanksgiving - cant wait to impress the family with them

Breaded Chicken Fingers

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2010
Excellent breading recipe...by far the best Ive made. I did add extra garlic powder, onion powder and some black pepper to the breading mix and only had time to let marinate for 1 hour. Still really, really good. My only question - posed to anyone with a solution - how can I make chicken fingers w/o making such a HUGE mess :(

Garlic Mashed Potatoes Secret Recipe

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
OMG THE BEST POTATOES I HAVE EVER MADE. By far!!!! I used Yukon Gold cause thats all I had and also used a Parmesan/Romano mix (again its what I had on hand) - I also only had my phone app for the recipe so I had to do the scaling down in my head. I took other reviewers advice and I roasted my garlic in the oven first. I used about 2 1/2 pounds of potatoes - 1 1/2 sticks of butter and about 5/6 cloves of garlic and about a 1/4 cup of cheese and oregano by taste (site) - I did a lot of this by taste and used a mixer to make a smooth mashed potato (vs a hand masher and chunky potatoes) but I still left the skin on. WOW!!!! They were absolutely fantastic - next time I might add some cheddar n chives and see how that turns out. Thanks for a great recipe!!!!

Schweinebraten Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jul. 19, 2010
Five stars cause the men of the house devoured it and raved about it (and that rarely happens). Me, personally, I wouldnt drink a beer if lost in a desert with no water, so I just couldnt get into the flavor - all I could taste was the beer (but I was the only one) I also thought it was way to heavy on the black pepper (again not a flavor I enjoy) - that was the only thing I could taste when I made the gravy, so I didnt serve the gravy. Next time around I am going to cut way back on the pepper and try it with a hard cider instead of beer

Beet Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2010
Havent tried your recipe and need to find moms old one to see if its the same but this has always been my favorite cake growing up. The only way my mom could ever get a vegetable anywhere near me - LOL - this always ends up so moist and delicious - i sprinkle mine with some powdered sugar - OMG i may have to make this tonight - the best part of this cake is not telling anyone whats in it until its gone. It is so cool to see that someone else makes this too - Thank you for sharing cause I never know if I will be able to find the recipe or not.

Seven Layer Taco Dip

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
Big hit - I even loved it and hate beans. I did mix the seasoning in with the sour cream n cream cheese as others suggested and used red and yellow bell peppers for more color. My only criticism is the portions/servings - I dont think it yields 56 servings and what is considered a large serving platter? The recipe was not quite enough for a 13x9 and too much for an 9x9.

Jalapeno Popper Mushrooms

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2012
Restaurant quality - even me and my daughter (two people who really dont like mushrooms) thought these were fantastic and the mushroom lovers at the table agreed wholeheartedly - Next time I may add more pepper(I actually used a Serrano)because I would have liked a bit more kick for my taste buds - Oh and I added a layer of mozzarella cheese to the top of these before baking - It was a wonderful addition

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2010
TOTALLY AWESOME RECIPE!!!!!!! Best soup Ive ever made - A great base soup for any creamy soup recipe. The flavors were excellent (a little buttery but I used Yukon Gold potatoes cuz thats what i had on hand). I had all the ingredients leftover from Tday so not only was it super easy and very quick to prepare - it actually didnt cost me a cent to make because I had everything on hand and would have most likely thrown alot of the stuff away in a couple days anyways - I used carrots instead of celery - personal family preference. Dont pass this recipe up this winter - This is a must make!!!

Garlic Chive Chicken

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2010
I followed the recipe to the T but doubled the sauce per reviews and so glad I did....I didnt want to like this when I took my first bite - it was a bit too lemony for me and I would have liked a more garlic kick (roasting the garlic makes the flavor more subtle - but I love roasted garlic) so next time I think I will cut back on the lemon and add some minced garlic along with the roasted. With all that being said I ended up eating two servings of this and licking my plate - It was very delicious and the more I ate it the more I wanted to eat - LOL EDIT: Made this for the whole family and used a lemon grown by a friend (and cut back a little this time) It was just about perfect!! Everyone liked it alot - Thank you

Cajun Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
Excellent flavors!! My mouth was watering when the butter and spices were on the stove. I had to adapt the cooking style and choice of meat for what I was using (Electric smoker) and really wished I had gone with the loin in the oven cause the only thing that I didnt like was the cut of meat (I used a pork butt roast cause it was going to be on overnight and didnt want to have dry meat) But this cooking method got me a crust on top of the meat that was just to die for. I didnt think it was at all too spicy (or hot) In fact I may even add a little more cayenne pepper next go around. I also didnt have a chance to make the gravy which I might try tonight with the left overs. Thinking of making "pulled" pork sandwiches and using the au jus as a dipper. Also my roast was 9 pounds so I tripled the recipe - IMO you should definitely double up on this recipe if you like lots of flavor

Millionaire's Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Excellent recipe. I wish I had followed it to the "T" tho - I tweaked it a tad going by what I thought would make it better for me. Added a little extra batter (not too much) and only had a 20oz can on pineapple and didnt spread all of the pudding mix. It was very good, everyone loved it but I definitely feel this cake wouldve been even better had I followed everything exactly. Cause there was a bit too much cake and whipped topping and not enough pineapple or pie filling. It was so nice though to find a great dessert for people who love sweets but arent big on chocolate. Because this recipe takes the "cake" if thats what youre looking for. May top it with some toasted coconut next time for an added kick cause altho I love love nuts they just didnt seem to fit well with this. And, as one reader said, it was even tastier the next day. So next time I may let it set for at least half a day. EDIT: I added a pic of a piece - please be kind as this was the very last piece that was left and I had to try and make it look edible. Also note how big the cake layer is - I def. think all the layers should come out about equal in height for the most delicious result ie...my cake layer was too big but as I mentioned earlier I added a bit more than half - I made cupcakes out of the leftover batter - should have enuf batter for 12 cc 3/4 full - I only had enuf for 9.

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2010
I didnt use tenderloin because I wasnt sure Id like the sauce and didnt want to spend tenderloin $$$. With that said the piece of meat I used was tough and therefore not very good but the sauce WAS....although I would opt out of the wine (I used cab sauv and brown sugar per many of the reviews) - I have cooked with wine 3 or 4 times now and I just cant get used to the flavor (i add this for those who have similar taste buds as I noticed another reviewer had thought it was to winey tasting and the reason I didnt buy the tenderloin) - Other than that I thought this was a very good recipe - I LOVED the shallots (although I had to take from the bottom of the barrel at the store so they were a bit tough too so they didnt blend as well as I wanted a smoother sauce but it was still excellent as a chunky sauce) - I didnt think the recipe took all that much time, but it was my "cook at home night" so it prolly took longer than it felt as I was basically just messing around in the kitchen. Some people said it was too salty and I will say that it did err on the side of salty but not overly so. AS far as the sauce reduction time and cooking time - I say this - every stove is different, so is every cut of meat - use a meat thermometer!!!!!!, not the recipe, and as for the reduction time on the sauce - pay attention and when you think its close - measure it - its that simple. I'd give this 4 stars with the tenderloin being used. 5 stars if u like cooking w/ wine and that flavor.
