Rich and Creamy Tomato Basil Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2013
WOW! Best tomato soup ever. My husband and I were amazed at how great this was! I made the recipe as is - although I did use Roma tomatoes and ended up doubling the amount of tomatoes called for due to their smaller size. This is now going to be our go to recipe! Thank-you so much for a great recipe!! If you are making this - do not change a thing!

Burgundy Pork Tenderloin

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2011
We don't usually eat pork, but we got a nice cut from our butchers and tried out this recipe. For how simple it is, it complements a good cut of pork really well. Keep it as is.

Warm Chicken and Mango Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2011
Wow, am I ever glad I had mango chutney on hand. I ingredient searched it and this recipe popped up. I wasn't sure how it would be, but am I ever glad I tried it! Fantastic as is! Next time, though, I am going to try adding 1 tbsp extra mango chutney and see how that goes - I am a mango lover. But do try it as it is first, you'd be surprised how wonderful it is and that it needs no changes!

Amish Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
Wow! This is simply amazing! We found that the onino was almost too overpowering. Green onion would be a better pairing. The egg also got lost in the salad, so I added one more that I had already made. In addition, there was so much dressing, so I added another 2 cups of pasta and 2 stalks of celery. Took reviewer's advice and cut sugar down to 1/2 cup. I did not have enough miracle whip, so I used 1 cup miracle whip and 1 cup mayonnaise. This had a fantastic taste. I think I will split the two from now on. It changed the flavour and balance the zip and plainness of the two dressings. Thank-you so much for the recipe!

Toasted Garlic Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
Best garlic bread ever! I will not buy store bought again. I loved the herb taste in addition to the garlic. It was a wonderful combination. Note: 2nd time through, I reduced the oregano to 3/4 tsp and we enjoyed this much more. Thanks for the recipe!

Heavenly Blueberry Smoothie

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2011
Yummm! It is a mild smoothie, but it isn't all that filling. We found, at first, that the banana was way overpowering for the blueberry taste that we wanted. We upped the blueberries to 1 1/2 cups and it still wasn't enough. Next time we will try 2 cups! This also makes the smoothie a lot thicker. We also found omitting the honey did not change the flavour, therefore we omited it to reduce the calories from this particular ingredient. In addition, I upped the flax to 2 tsp in order to add more of a traditional benefit - its only 1 tsp per person still. Very nice. Thanks for the recipe.

Flavorful Flounder

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2011
I'm not going to hurt the review on the account of my opinion, because the recipe is awesome. I did not like sole with it though. I think a milder fish would really be nice paired with this amazing fish topping! As per other reviews, I was kind of scared about the thickness of the topping, but if you follow the recipe as is, it should be the perfect spreadable consistency - that means adding all of the butter and mayo (not miracle whip!). Excellent fish treatment though, I'll definately use the recipe again, but with a different fish.

The recipe calls for waaaaay too much salt. Adjust according to your saltiness preference. Just beware

I wasn't quite happy with this recipe. It was missing something. But, by no means, was it a bad recipe. It was excellent! Just not quite the flavour I was looking for.

Momma's Wine Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
This was quite a good cake. I'm still searching for a good wine to use with it. I didn't like the merlot (it was not the best flavour combination; or at least it wasn't my preference) and white zinfandel is too mild. White cooking wine didn't do it for me either. Will keep trying new wines until I find the right one. Great base recipe! Just a note - the pudding is equal to 2 x 4 serving packages of pudding. I messed that up the first time. It wasn't bad, but not the same flavour.

Orzo with Parmesan and Basil

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
Our new favourite family meal! I have tried half parmesean and half romano cheese to make the full amount, and that worked quite excellent! We have made this quite a few times and never tire of it. The flavour combinations are just perfect!

Playgroup Granola Bars

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2011
These were pretty good. I have also tried substituting the raisins for 2/3 cup of almonds, and this worked really well! I prefer the taste, to be honest. Also, I substituted apple sauce for the oil and it made the creation have a hint of apple crisp flavour hidden amongst the traditional granola bar flavour. Yum. Thanks for the recipe!
