About this Cook
I AM A GRANMOTHER OF 11 AND ONE GREAT GRAND DAUGHTER... ALL OF MY GRAND KIDS ARE GREAT BUT ONLY ONE GETS THE TITLE.. I WORK AS AN ACTIVITY DIRECTOR AT A SMALL ASSISTED LIVING CENTER AND LOVE MY JOB WORKING WITH THE ELDERLY... MAYBE CAUSE I'M ON MY WAY THERE MY SELF.... I LOVE TO COOK , MOSTLY FAMILY STYLE MEALS BUT DABLE IN SOME GORMET... I HAD MY OWN CHEF BUSSINES FOR A WHILE BUT DECIDED I WOULD RATHER COOK FOR THE FUN OF IT....
My favorite things to cook
I ENJOY COOKING MEXICAN FOOD AND LOVE MEDITERAIN FOOD. BUT DOWN HOME SOUTHERN COOKING IS WHAT I ENJOY MOST... MY MOTHER WAS FROM THE SOUTH WEST AND I ALWAYS LOVED HER COOKING...
My favorite family cooking traditions
ONE OF MY FAVORITE COOKING TRADITIONS HAS BEEN OVER THE YEARS ..30 PLUS... HAS BEEN TO INTERDUCE A NEW RECIPE AT OUR HOLIDAY MEALS... WE HAVE COME UP WITH SOME PRETTY GOOD RECIPES WITH THAT AND NOW MY FOUR GROWN DAUGHTERS ARE DOING THE NEW RECIPE THING WITH THIER FAMILIES...
My cooking triumphs
MY FRIENDS THINK I AM A GOOD ENOUGH COOK THAT THEY HAVE ASKED ME TO CATER WEDDINGS FOR THEM... I THINK A COOK CAN ASK FOR NO BETTER COMPLEMENT
My cooking tragedies
AS A 9 YEAR OLD MY FIRST ATTEMPT TO MAKE COOKIES WITH NO RECIPE... WHILE MY MOTHER WAS AWAY... I ADDED A BOTTLE OF PEPPERMENT EXTRACT TO THE DOUGH AND PUT DROPS OF DOUGH ON A COOKIE SHEET AS I HAD SEEN MY MOTHER DO.. THE HOUSE REEKED FOR DAYS... AND WHEN MY MOTHER CAME HOME THAT DAY THERE WAS NO DENYING WHAT I HAD DONE.... THAT WAS MORE THAN FIFTY YEARS AGO .. DON'T THINK I HAVE EVER HAD A DISTER TO COMPARE TO THAT ONE...

Grandma's Brown Sugar Drop Cookies
I should have read the reviewws befoe I started this recipe... I made the cookie dough just as instructed and tasted it the soda was overwhealming so I came in and read the reviews and saw that I was not the only who had the soda problem so I went back and made another half of the recipe and added it to the first bowl.. much better... then I it in the fridge to set for half an hour... when I put them on the cookie sheet I sprinkled a few gingrsnap crumbs that I had left over from another recipe that turned out to be a very nice touch I am going to take them to a cookie exchng tomarrow but will take an altered recipe with them...

Quick Chicken Divan
I have used this recipe for years... i found it in a cookbook that my mother had back in the early 70's. My family loved it then and now that they are all grown they still ask for it when the come home for a visit... I use it for church potluck dinners and I alway get asked for the recipe... the only change I have made is I always mix the cheese in with the soup mayo mixture... Definitely one my all time favorites...
