I like to wake early in the morning and watch the sun rise and thank God for yet another beautiful day! My husband and I just recently married, and we have five + children, several grandchildren and a large extended family that we really enjoy visiting with. Our 'puppies' help complete the household. They are a super spoiled teruahuah and equally spoiled pomeranian with puppies on the way soon! My husband says they eat better than we do, but I don't see how as they eat often what we do -- Steaks, hamburgers, etc.
I have a Psychology degree from Purdue and I would like to work again with autistic children.
I have an adorable grandson with autism. Autism is a real treatable disorder, and it's good when other's understand that. My husband and I have traveled the US extensively, and we just enjoy life - God, spirituality, swimming, working-out, helping others, among other things listening to the oldies rock music. I also enjoy cooking, new recipes, guitar, computer, reading and life!
My favorite things to cook
I really like to cook so much so that my family gets tired of hearing me ask if anyone is hungry. I have cooked professionally in the past, and know the way to cook many gourmet foods. I like to take the good ol' fashioned 'family' recipes and work with them to bring them into modern cuisine. I enjoy cooking just about any good recipe, and most of the time I just make up my own recipe with what's on hand. I also like to experiment with recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My grandmother always had home-made cookies in the cookie jar (unless many of her grandkids had been visiting!) and usually home baked pies and breads AND homemade jams in the kitchen. She followed the traditional methods of cooking, a pinch of this and a handful of that. She always had a large garden and rarely had to shop except for staples.
Grandma is just one of my inspirations for cooking! My mother was another inspiration for cooking. She wasn't the best cook around (my what she could do to a roast!) but some things she cooked no one else could make like her unless she told them her secrets for the recipe! No one could match her for her baked beans, and she had secrets that she shared with just a few -- meatloaf, pies, sugar cookies, dandelion greens, New England boiled dinner, beef and noodles and some other dishes she made.
My cooking triumphs
Many -- I really like to cook big lavish dinners for several people during the holidays! The thing that comes to mind atm though is making my wedding cake!
My cooking tragedies
Many years ago I made a steak dinner for some relatives. The broiler wasn't hot enough and the steaks could have been used as rubber balls.
