Honey Curried Roasted Chicken and Vegetables

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2011
I made this basically according to recipe, I did however do as others who have reviewed this, doubled the sauce. I also brined my chicken the day before I cooked it. I decided to use just one apple and i cored it and quartered it and placed it in the chicken cavity, it kept it moist and gave it a great flavor. I seasoned my chicken with salt, pepper and garlic powder under the skin and on top as well. I also roasted my vegies at 400 degrees for 15 minutes before hand and then roasted my chicken separately in a 400 degree oven for 30 min then lowered the temp to 350. I put the sauce on the chicken in the last 10 min of cooking and then took out chicken covered in foil to rest. I popped the vegies back in the oven at 400 degrees to finish and also slathered sauce on them. Every one loved this. I also think that this would be excellent with pork.

Four Cheese Macaroni Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2011
I made this tonite for dinner and changed a couple of things. I wanted to make this a complete meal so I browned 2-3 lbs of ground beef and drained, then sauteed some sweet onion and garlic in olive oil and added diced tomatoes along with the seasonings to the garlic onion mixture and heated that thru. I added the cheese to the hot pasta but also added an 8oz brick of soften cream cheese to combat dryness and make it richer. Paired this dish with an arugula salad and dijon vinegarette, crusty bread and this was one awesome meal!!! Thanks so much

Sweet and Sour Meatballs in Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2011
Holy cow these are a huge hit in my house!! The only thing I did different was I browned the meatballs in a frying pan with a bit of olive oil. It was very easy to make and I tripled the recipe!! Had everyone over for dinner. I had sauteed spinach on the side for a complete dinner. Yummmm!

Herbed Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
These were some of the best dumplings I have ever tasted. I love the herbs and they were so easy to make. My daughter who hates anything doughy asked if I could make them every night. They are very light and fluffy and so very flavorful. Try them with your next stew you will love 'em!

Mushroom Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2011
This stuffing is wonderful, I too added portabella mushrooms and used a lot more chicken broth than stated. I turned out very moist and flavorful. I also melted a stick of butter and mixed in. Everything is better with butter and its a special occasion so I figured what the heck!! My daughter can't keep her hands off of it!! Thanks so much.

Cheesy Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2012
I made this for dinner tonite and I put my own twist to it. I sauted finely chopped onions and garlic and added to the chicken browning in pan. I substituted chicken broth and a few splashes of dry white wine for the water. I used different veggies cuz I have some that don't like broccoli. I used corn, peas and fresh mushrooms. This was absolutely fantastic!! Thanks so much!!

Chef John's Beef Goulash

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2014
Made this for dinner tonight and it was spectacular!!! The only thing I did differently was to cut the cayenne in half (my 3 y.o. granddaughter was eating this and loving it by the way and she doesn't like meat!). It was easy to prepare and super luscious. I think the caraway really makes it especially toasting it in the skillet first. I made this for a party of 15 and they all went home with the recipe! Thanks Chef John :-)

To Die For Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2014
This was absolutely spectacular. I know this because my son who doesn't like alfredo at all had 2 big platefuls! It was creamy and yummy and really hit the spot. I was shocked how fast this was to put together. This is perfect to serve to company or just the family. I was so glad I chose this recipe, it's easy, quick, yummy and requested by my son on a regular basis.

Greek Chicken

Reviewed: Mar. 31, 2014
Yassou!!! Wow this is sooo yummy, I followed the recipe exactly except I didn't have charcoal. So I cut up some red potatoes with the skins on, into bite size pieces. I put them on the bottom of my roasting pan, I also used chicken breasts cuz that's what I had, put my chicken breasts which marinated overnight on top of my potatoes in a 375 degree oven for an hour. It was the best chicken ever. Thanks so much, I can't wait to grill it! ;)

How to Make Homemade Pizza Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2014
Once again Chef John another excellent recipe!! Very easy to make and the taste is the best. I agree you need to use the 2 oregano's that's where most of your flavor comes from. I will try to find San Marzano tomatoes next time though, my sauce was kind of watery even though it cooked for almost two hours. My boo-boo. I think everybody should try this you won't be disappointed. My hubby and kids want homemade pizzas every week now!! :)

Chef John's Italian Meatballs

Only but the best from Chef John. These are the best meatballs I have ever tasted. Made them tonite for dinner and everyone devoured them! I made them for meatball subs but they were so good by themselves it didn't matter. Easy to make, I teamed with with a kale salad and it was a perfect dinner! Thank you again Chef John for an outstanding recipe!! :)

Chef John's Penne with Vodka Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2014
Yay, I get to be the first again to rate another one of Chef John's masterpieces. This was outstanding!! I quadrupled this partly because we had company and the other part is we all love pasta! This was so very easy to make and using the bacon really made it stand out. I never would have thought about putting bacon in this sauce but it really adds a richness that I have never had in a vodka sauce. I made a dandelion green salad and had some garlic bread. It was so tasty and everyone was eating and so quiet that you could here a penne drop, lol!! Thanks again, Chef John :)

Chicken Tikka Masala

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2014
I didn't use as much salt and I used garam masala instead of cinnamon. I have never eaten this before so I have nothing to compare it too but my whole family agrees that it is to die for. I cooked the chicken in the oven since it was raining out. I also marinated the chicken for 5 hours. I think over night would make it even better if its possible. I served this with rice and flour tortillas that's what I had on hand and also some greenbeans, it was yummy!!!
