About this Cook
I'm hardly a professional cook. I have a teeny tiny little apartment with an even smaller kitchen.
My favorite things to cook
Meat! I'm a carnivor. But I can't say I don't like the veggies too.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I remember my Mom's chicken and dumplings, my Dad's all-day spaghetti sauce, grilling steaks on Sunday afternoons, oyster stew, red velvet cake at Christmas. Gosh, there's so many memories associated with the kitchen when I was growing up that it's kind of hard to sort them all out and put them into a few words.
My cooking triumphs
I've had a few. They always make me proud of myself.
My cooking tragedies
My cooking tragedies? Too numerous to count. One person's heart actually stopped after tasting a sauce I made. Fortunately, all I had to do was rip open a vein, shove in a clove of garlic, do CPR for one minute, and he was fine by the time dessert was served.

Gina's Pound Cake
I was actually looking for another recipe when I found this one. Sounded good so I decided to try it last night. I added a package of strawberry gelatin mix to the batter, baked it as directed, cooled it and drizzled it with a thick confectioner's glaze. I'm getting a lot of praise for this cake. Thanks Gina!

Bread Pudding II
Need a quick, easy, inexpensive dessert? This one will do it. Topped mine with lemon curd. Another recipe worth keeping.

Carla's Sausage Cheese Balls
So, so, so good. And so easy too! I added a little extra cheese which oozed out as they baked and became crispy and fried-like around the bottom. Was an awesome Thanksgiving appetizer. Will definitely make these again soon.
