About this Cook
I'm turning 40 at the end of this year. My husband and I have been married for 4 years and we have a three year old daughter. I'm living in New Hampshire, but have lived in many places having worked as a travel nurse for many years. I am now a settled nurse manager who post child has become more of a homebody. Cooking is such a big hobby of mine. I could read recipes all day. I'm by no means an expert, but I've made a few things that were even mother in law approved.
My favorite things to cook
I'll try anything once, sometimes twice. I love baking cookies, making casseroles, experimenting with pizzas, and whatever else piques my interest.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Hmmm...I'm glad my mother isn't on this site. She proved you don't have to be a good cook to be a good mom. No cooking traditions that I can remember. We had a lot of weird stuff...tacos one night and what appeared to be the leftover meat in spaghetti the next. Oh and then there was the tuna noodle casserole with cocoa krispies on top. Not sure how I became so interested in cooking.
My cooking triumphs
I made a meatloaf (that I had literally tried multiple times to perfect) for both sets of my in-laws. They asked for the recipe...that speaks volumes. I made the most magnificent chocolate chip cookies one time, but unfortunately my father devoured them in one sitting.
My cooking tragedies
Multiple. I made chicken parmesan last week that tasted like cheese covered cardboard. I made a crab dip for my husbands fantasy football group that looked like a stomach flu gone wild. Some other chick made a nacho dip that the men loved. My dip came home untouched. And one last memorable moment that comes to mind is the time I tried a cheesecake for Thanksgiving. Nobody was thankful for that one. You needed a straw to drink the runny mess.

Broiled Short Ribs
Loved these ribs. I didn't have all the ingredients for the sauce so I just used bottled barbecue sauce and added a little brown sugar, ketchup and garlic. My husband loved it, but even better my absolutely picky three year old asked for seconds.

Oreo(TM) Cookie Bark
I must admit that if I rated this recipe based on my own taste, I would give it just 3 stars. BUT...I brought these to work and everyone raved about them. They were gone from the table before lunch.
