About this Cook
I am a disabled stay at home mom of 3 nearly grown kids and 1 husband who will never grow up. I had never cooked a thing until the day I got married then I discovered a whole new world and my love for cooking and baking has grown from there. I am an extremely bland and picky eater, never touching 90% of the stuff I so dearly LOVE to make for my family and friends. We are currently living in a super extended family situation due to the economy. My husband and I recently purchased our first home and my dream was that it would be large enough that no one we loved would ever be homeless or hungry.2 months later, and we currently have our oldest daughter (22),her huband(26), and our grandbaby(2)living with us. Our middle daughter is 18 and still at home and in school, her fiance (19) stays here during the week, and our son (14).My brother lives a mile away and stays and eats all the time,as does my grandpa.The door is always open and the stove is always on!We also have 5 small dogs!
My favorite things to cook
I love to bake, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes and brownies, home made bread - you name it. My passion for it began when someone gave me a breadmaker they no longer wanted and it took off from there! I even make my own dog and cat treats from time to time! My dream is to one day open my own resteraunt with loads of baked goods on the menu, special order cakes,cookies,muffins, rolls and pies on the side, at affordable prices in a comfortable family atmosphere.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Everything from good old fashioned down home country cooking where everything starts with bacon grease and involves buttermilk in one way, shape, or form and has you leaving the table feeling like youve just been hugged by your grandma from Oklahoma. To amazing Italian dishes that take three days preparation time and involve picking the ripest tomatoes and freshest herbs by hand from your local street fair and farmers markets. I have also learned alot from the area of Southern California my husband grew up in about down home mexican cooking, with beans, rice, and lard.
