First review I've ever written because it's THAT GOOD: This is the best, biscuit-y, scone-y, soda-bread-y loaf EVER! I always make it for St. Patrick's Day, and it's become a year-round favorite too. Easy to make and take a loaf as an impressive hostess gift or as a contribution to a pot-luck. When I don't have buttermilk, I use 1 Tbsp. of lemon juice or vinegar in the bottom of a measuring cup, then fill to the one cup mark with milk and microwave for 15 seconds or so. I also use all butter, and bake at 350 a little longer. This year I'm going to try some whole wheat flour and raisins, but this recipe is wonderful as posted!
