Slumgullion

Reviewed: May 20, 2010
My mother has always called this American Chop Suey as long as I can remember, and I'm 50 so it's been around a while. Always a hit at home, inexpensive, easy and delish! Makes me want to go hug my Mom....

Orange Pecan French Toast

Reviewed: May 21, 2010
I made it exactly as directions showed. It was perfect without changing a thing. The wonderful thing is it makes it's own syrup, it takes less time to cook than most overnight french toast recipes and the house smells wonderful while it's baking. This is great for any occassion and to wow a crowd.

White Chicken Enchilada Slow-Cooker Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 15, 2010
I added black beans and cumin, but it still lacked flavor. It wasn't soggy at all and very tasty, just a little bland. It also makes a huge dish so be careful if you only have 2-3 to feed, leftovers will last a long time!

Stuffed Chicken Valentino

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
Made this last night and it was very good. I added red pepper flakes, garlic powder and basil to the top. Also added marinated asparagus spears to the middle. Be sure you have enough time for preparation, it took a little longer than I thought it would.

Tex-Mex Chicken and Rice Bake

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2010
Made this past week. I used brown rice instead of white, one can of water like other reviews said, but it must have been because I used brown rice, it was a little too watery. I think next time I will spice it up more with black beans, green chilies or something as the rice had good flavor but the chicken needed more flavor.

Unbelievably Awesome Barbeque Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2010
I used Boboli crust and ragu instead of marinara. Other than that, followed exact recipe. It's great for a busy, working Mom. My husband loved it and is already asking for it again.

Chicken Ranch Pizza with Bacon

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
Made this last night. I used Boboli pizza crust, cooked for about 5-6 minutes and then added layers. The only thing I would change is to use a low sodium soup next time. With the soup and the bacon, the three of us thought it was too salty. Otherwise, it's definitely a favorite I'll make again!

Rice Balls a la Tim

Reviewed: May 16, 2011
It was delicious but to us was more like a meatball dish to add to pasta; which is what we did. We used ground chicken, brown rice, one egg to make it stick and extra mozz cheese. It wasn't sticking great so after all ingredients were added, nuked for about 30 seconds and it was perfect. Will definitely make again.

Eileen's Meatloaf

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2011
The flavor was okay; my family and myself didn't think the flavor was excellent. I did like however that the meatloaf "held" together and didn't fall apart which makes it good for leftover sandwiches. We just added lots of BBQ sauce to the top to add additional flavor.

Didn't change the ingredients at all and was fantastic. Best cole slaw I have made!

Sopapilla Cheesecake Dessert

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2011
I made this last night for a large dinner party. Used 1/2 cup brown sugar and 1/2 cup sugar for the filling and it was just right. I also added a fruit topping on top of the filling and it needed a bit more. It was really great and my guests loved it, but it was missing something. Maybe next time I'll add more cinnamon, maybe some almond extract to the filling will kick it up a bit. I also didn't roll the dough, I just pinched it together as another reviewer said and it worked fine. I melted 1/4 cup butter for the top but didn't need all of it. I did add brown sugar to the butter and completed with honey all over the top crust. As others said, 45 minutes is too long. 35-40 is all that is needed.

Baked Spaghetti I

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2011
The only thing I changed was adding a bit of garlic. It wasn't enough. I know we are to rate the recipe for how it is written, not with a million changes. Therefore it's definitely not for me. There wasn't enough flavor; we actually thought it was very bland. I won't make it again, sorry....

Inside Out Ravioli II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2011
I agree with another viewer, a step is left out but you work around it... Even though I added extra spices, oregano, basil, etc. it was still bland. It needed more "umph." It wasn't the rave I read about.

Leftover Meatloaf Tater Tot Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 18, 2012
Even my pretty picky husband liked this. The only thing different I did was put just a bit of cheese on each piece of meatloaf at the beginning so it wouldn't dry out, then 5 minutes before it was done I added the rest so it would melt right before serving. It was really good!

Satiny Chocolate Glaze

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2012
I agree with other users; I didn't know this would be more like a frosting, I assumed it would be a thin glaze. I also melted in the microwave in internvals of melting/stirring/melting. It looked too buttery at first so I added a bit more chips until I had the right consistency. It hardens up nice and is not greasy as it looked. It was so easy and tasted great, which is what I was looking for!

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2012
It was very simple to make. I took the advise of others and used one can cream of chicken and one can cream of mushroom; I liked the flavor combo. I also added the biscuit dough about 1 hour prior to dinner time. This is what I personally would change; when you drop the pieces of biscuit dough in and aren't able to watch it, the small pieces "float" back together to make larger "clumps". I will make it again but next time be sure and watch to keep the dough separated.

Quinoa and Black Beans

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2012
I took the advice of others and soaked the quinoa for about an hour prior to making. I loved it; hot or cold was great. So many dishes like this are bland and this is not. I didn't add the cayenne but other than that, I made it exactly as the recipe said and will make again.

Buttermilk Chocolate Cake with Fudge Icing

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2012
I made this exactly as the recipe showed. Normally I make a few changes but wanted to really try the way it was written. It was like eating air; no flavor in the cake at all. I have made the icing many times before and is the best frosting I have ever had, but the cake.....no way. I won't ever make it again with the given recipe. This is the first time I have ever given a 1 star on this site.

Slow Cooker Lasagna II

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2012
I made it exactly as the recipe stated, other than it cooked on low for 8 hours since I was at work. The bottom of it was way overdone and instead of being crispy and yummy, it tasted really burnt. It's unusual as I cook in my slow cooker at least once a week and haven't had this issue with a sauce on the bottom. If I make this again I will definitely make it on a weekend where I can watch it after 4-5 hours to determine if it's done so it won't overcook again. Unfortunately the "burnt" taste was evident on the top as well.

Banana Pudding Dessert

Reviewed: Jul. 24, 2012
Delish! I agree with other viewers on the sweetness. My boys love sweet so I kept as is and they loved it. If I were making it for my taste I would alter the recipe by adding more milk and less condensed milk. It was very, very good; just too sweet for me. It's all about personal taste preference.
