I am 26 years old and just recently got into cooking. I live by myself, so I usually end up sharing my experiments with my friends and family and bringing my boyfriend the gift of baked goods every other week :)
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy cooking vegetarian dishes, although I am not a vegetarian. I also like to try unusual recipes like chocolate cake with cayenne pepper, bacon cookies, and sweet potato burritos.
My favorite family cooking traditions
On Christmas my dad always used to make chocolate chip and maraschino cherry cookies, and I have made my own twist on the recipe of chocolate-chocolate chip and cherry cookies with cherry syrup.
My cooking triumphs
Sweet potato burritos which I make once a week, chipotle shrimp tacos, black bean and cream cheese burritos, coconut curry chicken, chocolate-chocolate chip cherry cookies, cherry vanilla dr pepper cupcakes, cranberry-walnut muffins and raspberry lemonade muffins.
My cooking tragedies
I made chipotle tilapia tacos once, and used WAY too much spice. They were so hot I couldn't eat them! I tried making a Mountain Dew cake as well, but it was far too sweet/lemony for anyone's taste. In my defense, those were the first 2 things I ever made.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I
I added maraschino cherries and cherry syrup to these. They are tasty but I may cut down on the cocoa powder next time as they are a bit TOO chocolaty.

Raspberry Lemon Muffins
These are absolutely delicious and don't taste low fat at all. I used 1 whole egg instead of 2 whites, and used twice the amount of lemon juice and lemon extract, with a sprinkled Splenda topping - the rest was followed exactly. They taste like raspberry lemonade and are perfect for a quick breakfast because they are moist, fruity and just a little bit sweet. I made 6 large muffins. They're so easy to make and I have tons of leftover ingredients, so I will be making more of these tomorrow because I have a feeling I'm going to eat them all tonight :) I'm not sure how they were too dense for some, although I did end up adding a splash of 1% milk to thin the batter just a little.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos
I was a little skeptical at first, but curious to try these. I used black beans instead of kidney beans and THEY ARE SO GOOD! The little heat + cumin flavor is great against the sweetness of the potatoes and they are very filling. Yum yum yum.
