Mulligatawny Soup I

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
Delicious! Added about 1/8 tsp cayenne pepper at the suggestion of reviewers, which made it pretty darn spicy! Will make again--perfect for the coldest day so far this fall.

How to Make Bordelaise Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2014
Foolproof and AMAZING. I actually forgot about the sauce while the wine was reducing, it went down to nothing and I thought the sauce was ruined. Figured I'd pour the stock in anyway (I used chicken stock since I didn't have veal stock) and just see what happened...it still tasted unbelievable. Poured this sauce over a broiled Rib-eye -- one of the best meals I've had in ages, restaurants included. Also -- I only had 1 shallot but I put in the same amount of liquid and let it reduce a lot. It was still quite good.

Saw lemongrass in the store, wanted to make something with it, found this recipe on the AR app and made it that night. Soooo good. Loved the sauce.

This is my recipe--obviously it's not going to win any awards for healthy eating but it was good. I think I had thirds!

Made this for a Christmas party in Hawaii, everyone loved it. Next time I'd have added a little more jalapeño.

Trinidad Stewed Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
Really tasty, everyone loved it. If I had to do it over again I'd use a pot with a larger base--I was using chicken hindquarters and had to brown them in two batches.

Trinidad Pelau

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
Made this without the beef or the pigeon peas...served "Trinidad Stewed Chicken" from this site on top of it. Super good. My dinner guest asked "what did you put in the rice, it was so good!"

Daddy K's Milk Boiled Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2012
Puts the flavor right into the corn! I didn't need to slather butter on the individual pieces...though I guess you could :) Great if you're cooking for a crowd.

Artichokes

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2013
Loved the idea of rubbing with lemon. Great tips in the reviews, I added the vinegar and served with lemon butter and a balsamic vinaigrette. Steamed with extra water as suggested in the reviews for about 25 minutes, which left the artichoke meat really crisp-tender.

Vieux Carre

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2014
Buying all the ingredients for this really gave me a well-stocked bar! The cocktail had a really complex flavor--like something you'd get at a fancy cocktail bar, but it was very simple to make once I had all the ingredients. Strong, too!

Loved the tangy horseradish in this. I used a kurabota ham from Snake River Farms...so tender and delicious!
