A Simply Perfect Roast Turkey

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
This was my first turkey I've ever made by myself, and it turned out amazing. The color was so beautiful. Thank you Syd for making me a star cook this Thanksgiving. (I did follow other suggestions such as adding butter and apple slices under the skin and quartered onions, celery and apples inside the cavity.)

Awesome Roast Beef

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2012
First time I made it, I deviated more from the original recipe. I did the onion soup packet thing. I did the can of mushrooms thing. I used golden mushroom soup instead of the cream of mushroom (that's what I had on hand). Then added the veggies. People really liked it, but didn't go crazy over it. Second time around, I seemed to stick more to the recipe. Seasoned with Montreal Steak Seasoning, garlic salt, and pepper. Threw in two cans of cream of mushroom soup and half a box of beef broth. Added carrots and onions. A couple hours later added potatoes. A half hour before serving, I measured out a 1/2 cup of the gravy broth and whisked in a couple tbsp. of flour, then stirred that back into the crock pot. THIS TIME, my husband went nuts. He had three servings. He looked at me with sheer joy and worship in his eyes. Isn't that what every spouse wants? And it wasn't even hard to make!!!!

Great! I made this for my daughter's baptism party and everyone devoured it. Didn't change a thing and it came out perfect!

Oranged Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
I love this cranberry sauce. My sister in-law makes this every year for Thanksgiving. This tastes even better the next day, when you are making your leftover turkey and stuffing sandwiches. Oh my!

Sam's Famous Carrot Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2011
Delicious carrot cake. For me, this cake comes out very dense -- I would prefer something fluffier and lighter. Could it be the high altitude where I live? My family raves on and on about this cake, though, so this is now my go-to recipe. Stayed true to the recipe, except I added an extra teaspoon of cinnamon and a little nutmeg.

Andy's Spicy Green Chile Pork

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
I live in New Mexico, where many people are green chile snobs. Doubled the meat and added garlic salt.I used a big jar of 505 green chile (which my husband was very nervous about as he is not a fan of jars or cans of chile) a container of frozen Bueno green chile, and some fresh sliced chile from a friends garden. 505 and Bueno are both local brands, but you could probably buy online. Anyway, this chile made me a star (even my mother-in-law who does amazing things with green chile!) and took a minimal amount of time. Will make again and again!

Savory Turkey Gravy

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
First time I ever made gravy and it was great! It was a great basic recipe that I used, along with some of the reviews -- I used half pan drippings and I made a roux with butter/ flour and then added the stock and drippings. Used the same spices the original recipe called for.

Cheese's Baked Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2010
Really good! I followed another review and used bacon instead of the sausage. I used shredded cheese instead of the cubed cheese. It had a slightly grainy texture after it sat in the pan for awhile...but the next day for leftovers, I mixed it with a little milk and it perked right back up! I will definitely use this recipe again.

Yummy Sweet Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 1, 2010
Very very good. Everyone loved it, although I think my family was a little concerned about the lack of marshmallows. But they forgot about the marshmallows once they tasted it!

Pretty good salad, but not amazing or anything. I would make this again for an office potluck.
