Mommy of four. Lost my interest in cooking for a short time when the babies were young and largely picky eaters. Thankfully, their tastes grew as they did and now are fun to cook for. My husband has never been picky and taught the kids to appreciate my efforts even though they did not always appreciate the food.
My favorite things to cook
Everything savory, I am not into sweets (much to my childrens dismay).
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving is our favorite holiday, I start thinking about it well before the actual day. Love Christmas breakfast too (including the champagne:)).
Now that the kids are older my new favorite tradition is Sunday lunch with my grown (moved out) daughter and Sunday dinner, all six of us! My family also extends to my good group of friends. We get together for a home cooked dinner about two times per week... way less expensive than going out to eat and the food is just as good (or better)!
My cooking triumphs
Making tamales for my friends "I just got my green card party". This food is a labor of love and I see why it is generally considered a 'party food' in Mexico.
Also pulling off a really good, tradtional Thanksgiving while in a studio apartment kitchen in the midst of very BAD morning sickness!
My cooking tragedies
Gave up trying to make sugar cookies years ago, they always come out too crunchy.
