I just recently moved back from San Francisco and I picked up the love bug for cooking! I used to look at is as a chore not a hot steamy rendezvous!
I like to take "Plane Jane" recipes, as I call them, and turn it into something you can serve guests, lovers, friends, family, and the dreaded in-laws.
I believe the less mess and steps, the better! You can be sure if there is a tasty shortcut to be made in my recipes I'll take it! But only if its well thought out and scrumptious!
My favorite things to cook
-Chicken Noodle Soup (from the land of Cumin)
-Slap You Silly Chicken Tenders
-Slap You Twice Chicken Nuggets
-Lemon Bezzang Chicken
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother grew up Mennonite so she's one hell of a cook! She has taught me many things about cooking; How to test meat, why you never use the same spoon for all the food, why you pack brown sugar and not flour, and many other little tips. But the only family cooking "Traditions" my mother passed down to me were:
-Dont sneeze in the food!
-Cook with a pinch of creativity and a heap of Love
-Never cook on a full stomach :)
-And, If you mess up work with it! It can only get so bad!
My cooking triumphs
Finally learning how to perfectly flip a pancake!
My cooking tragedies
I once burned an entire batch of marble brownies, due to an electrical issue in my old oven! Tragedy for sure! 3 hours of hard labor, blood, sweat, and tears!
