Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I really wanted to rate this a 5, but the chocolate top layer kept separating from the bottom layer which made cutting and serving this for a party a little tricky. I did use all natural pb. I wonder if that is the problem. I did step one in a food processer, which allowed me to freshly crumb the graham crackers first, and then add the remaining ingredients. The flavor was very good. Just the texture issue with the 2 layers separating.

My Country Style Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
This was really great on a cold winter night. I had all of the ingredients on hand. I served over baked baby potatoes and used only 2 cube steaks totaling .75 lbs. It was just enough for my family of 4 (6 and 8 year old kids and parents). What a great way to stretch a small amount of meat. Came out very tender and flavorful.

Wheat Germ Whole-Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2011
These are a good healthy alternative to buttermilk pancakes made with white flour. However, the batter seemed very thick so I added a little more milk. They are not a fluffy pancake, which is why I didn't give them 5 stars.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2011
Add this to your next picnic! I used dried parsley since I didn't have fresh on hand. Also, I broiled this in the oven instead of grilling. Despite the other reviewer who said you couldn't taste the red pepper sauce, I disagree. These shrimp have a little bit of bite to them, but the heat was happily tolerated by my 6 and 8 year olds. I served it with brown rice and corn.

Homemade Banana Pudding Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 6, 2011
This recipe was OUTSTANDING. Even just the pudding part could be eaten on its own as a perfectly acceptable dessert. I made two of them, one as directed, and one with graham cracker crumbs instead of vanilla wafers. Both were sensational.

Very solid recipe, but nothing "special". Just a good standard muffin.

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jul. 6, 2011
This was really good. The cinnamon chips alone are a treat. I doubled the recipe and had a bunch of leftovers and stuck them in a blender. It was delicious and tasted a little bit like flavored applesauce. Added some yogurt, and it became a breakfast smoothie.

This just didn't do it for me. I love salads but there was no WOW factor with this one.

Sweet Potato Pie I

Reviewed: May 30, 2011
Absolutely sensational. I'm on a non-dairy diet and made this with vegan "butter" sticks and vanilla almond milk. No one could tell anything was different. Pair this with "Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust" for pie perfection!!

Brunch Omelet Torte

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
This was great, even when I took out the dairy and used vegan cheese and earth balance sticks! I also added broccoli with the potato mixture and it was great (although I used less potatos than the recipe called for. I also cooked the potato mixture in a dutch oven on the stovetop because there was no way my skillet could handle the volume!

Barbecued Round Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2011
Absolutely outstanding. This is the best recipe I've found on allrecipes.com in quite awhile. 6 and 8 year olds loved it as well as the adults. I wouldn't change a thing. Even the leftovers were great!

Easter Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2012
The recipe as written is very good and basic. However, it lacked any real kick. My family agreed it would've been better with sausage or maybe a stronger pepper or even an additional spice (dry mustard, etc). It was a solid recipe, just not outstanding.

Delicious! I was nervous that the curry would make it too spicy for the kids, but they liked it!!

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2011
This is a very good recipe. I would've given it a 4 1/2 if I could, because it is your standard, solid pot pie. Nothing super exciting, but nothing is missing.

Amazing 'Pizza' Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2011
My family wasn't in love with this recipe, which surprised me as we love all of the ingredients in it. I can't put my finger on what the issue was, it just had no WOW factor.

Zesty Feta and Shrimp Summer Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 31, 2010
I made it exactly as listed and it just wasn't great. I like all of the ingredients, but the balsamic vinegar wasn't a great choice of "sauce". It made a really dry salad. Perhaps I should've tried the balsamic VINEGARETTE as others suggested.

Pastel de Tres Leches (Three Milk Cake)

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2013
May be the best cake I've ever had in my life. And I've eaten and baked a lot of cakes! Made exactly as directed in a 9x13 pan. Let it sit overnight before serving. Super moist. Serve with whipped cream and berries, although the whipped cream felt like overkill.
