Beer Brats

Absolutely phenomenal....just the way the recipe states. I use a good German beer like Warsteiner and make sure you get some real German mustard otherwise known as "Senf". A few notes: don't prick the brats with a fork, the flavor of the beer and onions will definitely penetrate deeper but all that goodness and all the moisture will run out as soon as you put them on the grill. They taste AMAZING just the way the recipe says. I have no idea why the author says to save the beer-boiled onions as a side, I honestly think it's a joke and a funny one at that - they are the most bitter thing I have ever tasted lol.

This is an absolute winner! So easy to make with very little prep involved. I added more walnuts and about 1/2 cup of pounded macadamia nuts to the mix too. Just awesome! The smell of this cooking wafted throughout the house and really hammered-home that fall feeling.

Absolutely fantastic. I made this yesterday for dinner and it was practically inhaled. I did add a layer of mandolin-sliced, potatoes to each layer of eggplant and it worked amazingly well (par-boiled sliced for 5 mins first). I think what impressed me the most was how effortless the bechamel sauce was to make - that'll give you a real sense of achievement if, like me, you hadn't made that before.

Very tasty, AND, authentic. I lived in Germany for 11 years and every single Jaeger Schnitzel I ordered was ALWAYS breaded (and i ordered a lot!). Great simple recipe.
