About this Cook
I am married, with 3 daughters (all married) and 7 grandchildren. I lost 75# in the last year and a half, thanks to HCG and real, whole foods. My husband and I are crop farmers and I have a custom design and alterations business.
My favorite things to cook
I love to eat real foods. Real food has life in it and is so good that you can taste the life in it. I make my own yogurt from whole milk, and bake our own 10-grain bread several times a week, and grow most of our fruits and vegetables. I enjoy cooking up everything.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I cook from scratch and seldom use convenience products. I read labels religiously and buy the product with the least amount of ingredients listed on the label. My cooking goals are always to get the most nutrition possible from every dish I prepare, and great taste with the least amount of added sugar.
My cooking triumphs
We really love our recipe for 10-grain bread and so do our grandchildren who are always asking for peanut butter chocolate chip sandwiches made with our bread. Also we make our smoothies with our homemade yogurt and whole fresh or frozen fruits--no pasturised juices--for maximum nutrition. A whole large orange usually provides the juiciness a smoothie requires. Yum!
My cooking tragedies
Not too many of those, thank goodness. Shoofly pie was our biggest disappointment.

Roasted Garlic Bean Dip
Great taste. Very minor changes. Used 2 heaping teaspoons of minced garlic from a jar which I added to the sautéed onion just a minute or 2 before onion was cooked. Used fresh rosemary. Will use this dip as a sauce over zucchini noodles as well. I liked the taste of this dip with carrots

Rice Pudding
My husband says it is the best rice pudding he has ever had. To suit our tastes I eliminated the raisins and cinnamon and used xylitol and stevia to replace the sugar. Yum!

Italian Dressing Mix
A very tasty recipe. I used only 1 tbsp RealSalt and celery seed. Used 1/8 cup red wine vinegar and 1/8 cup red cooking wine to reduce the acidic bite. Increased water to 1/4 cup and used 1/2 cup garlic grapeseed oil.
